I loved the tagged book. It definitely dealt with soul searching and introspection. It is one of my favorites.

#AnglophileApril Reading Dani Shapiro‘s memoir felt very #CloseToMe as I really related to her early days. Growing up in an Orthodox home, to parents you admire and look up to. Wanting to please them and make them proud. Being part of a tight knit Jewish community, having a sense of belonging. Our stories do start to fray and take different turns but something about her writing was very honest, raw & connective for me. Loved this memoir.
Dani‘s search for her Jewish identity, her beliefs, and find a religious home for her family was easy for me to identify with. Esp raising children in a place with not many Jews. I have the same attitude toward bad things happening, i.e. why not me as opposed to why me. I found parts of her story re her son‘s infantile illness difficult to hear as I still struggle to process my child‘s disability. (Pic from my walk).
Enjoyed this #audiobook while on a morning walk before my conference this morning. #litsywalker #nola
Wow, just wow. I'm not sure what to say at this point. I'm still digesting it all.

I‘m not sure if this memoir will appeal to everyone but wow, did Dani Shapiro call to me. Our early years seem almost interchangeable, although I was gifted with the most loving mother & Dani was not. We were both raised Orthodox, in a world full of Jewish tradition, ritual & faith. However Dani starts to question the presence of God, the burden of observance when tragedy befalls her. This memoir is her soulful quest for understanding.
#LitsyWalkers My weather app seems to be channeling @kaye Decided to follow their advice and go for a walk 👣🦋🌞🌻 Still enjoying this #audio 🎧❤️
Look what my Library has!!! I'm so excited, usually my library doesn't have books that I want, at least that have anything to do with Judaism? I guess that's what happens when you live in the "Bible Belt" ☹. I'm so excited though!!! @Cinfhen
As we drive through the hills of ancient Jerusalem on our way to a Bar Mitzvah celebration, I‘m listening to the soulful words of Dani Shapiro lamenting about parchment scrolls and daily prayers, devotion and faith. I‘m blown away ❤️Thank you for this perfect recommendation @Lmstraubie @LauraBeth 💕💕💕#audio
This definitely belongs in the category of #marvolousmemiors. I'm looking forward to reading her newest, Hourglass. #awesomeautumnbooks @Jess7
If it's 9 pm and I can't remember the e-book deal that I wanted to buy at 9 am - then maybe I shouldn't buy it. 🤔 Just kidding 😹😹 Of course I'll buy it!
For me, this was a book about looking for all the right things in the wrong places. The writing was wonderful but I found it more sad and frustrating than satisfying or fulfilling.
Sometimes the universe surprises you with advice when you open a library book. Virginia Woolf, no less.
This is not exactly a sequel to Slow Motion (quite a bit of time passed between the two memoirs), but a great mid-life reckoning, the story of a seeker. Any book that includes the wisdom of Sylvia Boorstein, someone I admire greatly, is a great find. Loved it.
#Booktober #memorablememoirs @RealLifeReading trouble choosing; read lots of this genre.
