The Ice House: A Novel | 
pickQuite enjoyable with a surprise ending in the way it came about. A commentary on women‘s lives as well as a murder mystery, this was an engaging read. At times the dialogue was sparkling, especially with an acid-tongued character. Many red herrings kept me switching guilt from character to character. Nicely done book!

pickGreat book, I've read a couple other books by this author, and I will read more. I like that the assistant DI is the protagonist in the book. Phoebe Maybury was accused of killing her husband 10 years ago, but not by police. The community ostracized her after he disappeared. Now a body is found in the ice house and everyone thinks its David. Lots of twists make the plot very intriguing.

Most memorable to me as a 90‘s Mini series on British tv, starring a fresh-faced pre-Bond Daniel Craig!
pickI first read this in 1999, long enough ago to have forgotten the important bits so it was like reading it for the first time. The action kept up a steady pace and the characters were well-rounded and realistic. I felt empathy for the 3 women, isolated and victimized by the past. It's going back on the shelf to await my next visit to Streech Grange. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Loving this return to the world of Minette Walters. It's been 17 years since I last read it. The story is familiar but I can't remember what happens so it's almost like reading a new book 👍😄
