Pretending to Dance
Pretending to Dance: A Novel | Diane Chamberlain
Molly Arnette is very good at keeping secrets. She lives in San Diego with a husband she adores, and they are trying to adopt a baby because they can't have a child on their own. But the process of adoption brings to light many questions about Molly's past and her family-the family she left behind in North Carolina twenty years before. The mother she says is dead but who is very much alive. The father she adored and whose death sent her running from the small community of Morrison's Ridge. Her own birth mother whose mysterious presence in her family raised so many issues that came to a head. The summer of twenty years ago changed everything for Molly and as the past weaves together with the present story, Molly discovers that she learned to lie in the very family that taught her about pretending. If she learns the truth about her beloved father's death, can she find peace in the present to claim the life she really wants?

Mehso-so

I‘ve read and liked several Chamberlain novels- this was more so-so than pick. Molly and her husband want to adopt a baby, but Molly needs to reconcile with some things in her past…

Love this author! What would you do if someone you loved was terminally ill and asked you to help them die on their own terms? Heavy topic...and she does a great job weaving a great story into it.

Three #dance titled books. The tagged book & Last Dance On the Starlight Pier are #TBR on my Kindle & Loves Music, Loves to Dance is a favorite blast from the past during my “read everything Mary Higgins Clark” phase in the ‘90s.

Clwojick I have a huge stack of unread Mary Higgins Clark books, and this is definitely one of them! 2y

Diane Chamberlain is such a masterful storyteller! This is the 4th book of hers that I‘ve read and I will definitely make it a point to read her other 20 novels.

Prairiegirl_reading I had never even heard of her until I read the dream daughter last year. I will definitely be reading more. I had no idea there are over 20!!! How had I never heard of her??? 4y
ZoeJane620 @Prairiegirl_reading I have no idea how she isn‘t more widely known! The Dream Daughter was so great! I just listened to that one last month. I feel like all of her books that I‘ve read so far would make great movies... 4y
Crazeedi Welcome to litsy!!🎉🎉 I enjoy this author too 4y

Although I'm seriously #bookhungover, I'm going to attempt to jump into this one. I've read one other book by this author that I really enjoyed, so I'm hoping this one follows suit. This is one of the 13 books I borrowed from my local library today before they switch to curbside pickup only, for the foreseeable future. I'm going to try to burn through these 13 while I have a couple weeks off from work. Wish me luck!

Very moved by this one. I‘m a bit disappointed I figured put how it was going to end before I got there, but I‘m excited to read more of her books.

#SeptemBowie Today's prompt #MagicDance has me stumped 🤔 so I looked at my GoodReads for books I read with Dance in the title...I had one! Wish I could say more about this book, but I honestly can't remember much 😥I've included my review from September 1, 2015....

TheBookHippie It's still sitting in my TBR pile ...#icanttalkaboutit🤦🏽‍♀️📖 7y
Cinfhen That hashtag 😂😂😂😂 @TheBookHippie 7y
Reviewsbylola Nothing bothers me more than a book I can literally remember nothing about. Trust me, I forget the details of a lot of the books I read, but if I can remember nothing at all, it's a bad sign! 7y
Leniverse I'll have to do the same thing 'cause I've got nothing here. Magic dancing? Nope. The babe with the power to voodoo? Nope. 🤔 7y

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I will definitely be checking out more from this author. Only complaint it was a little long in parts and I saw the twist from very beginning. Recommended!

Mehso-so

Did not enjoy this as much as some of Diane Chamberlin's other books. I felt that that I should have liked the main character Molly more than I actually did.
