A fun, fast-paced conclusion to a trilogy I thoroughly enjoyed!

I tried, I really did. This trilogy should be something I love, but I struggled through the first two and am finally admitting I don‘t like it. It‘s depressing and I keep getting pissed off at the characters, so I‘m out. I skimmed ahead and the rest of the book is just going to make me angrier.

Happy weekend friends! Welcome to my front porch! Where me and Charlie Waffles have been spending a lot of our time lately. There's not much new to report. Words are being written. Garden is growing. Books are getting read. I've really been enjoying the Gold Seer trilogy! A rollicking good wild west adventure with a spitfire heroine! How are all of you doing?

Cathythoughts Lovely pic. Doing ok Thankyou X 4y

I hate it when a trilogy fizzles... but some people on Goodreads seem to love it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ #howjessreadsin2019

I can't say enough about this trilogy. Set in the mid 1800's this tale will take you on a wagon train (the Oregon Trail) from Georgia to the wilds of California in search of gold. Lee is a head strong "gifted" heroine who perseveres in spite of tragedy and living in a time in our history when women had no true rights. I just finished book 3 last night. What a ride. I highly recommend ? ?????

I love this series. Set in the early Gold Rush days of California this paranormal/historical fiction/YA book is perfect for me (a CA girl living in an old gold rush town) ♡ Let's see how this trilogy ends.

This started off a little slow for me, but toward the end it picks up with the action and adventure I loved from the first book. A satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.

I love this series, but this is the first book in the series that I've listened to and the narrator's accent is kind of jarring. Kinda wishing I had the actual book. 🙄

After reading several books I simply wasn‘t interested in, I picked up the third book in the series. Honestly, it wasn‘t as good as I wanted it to be, but it was an easy read. I liked seeing what happened with the characters, and I liked that all of them could become another story. And, most importantly, I actually finished a book.

annahenke I felt the same way about this one. 6y

I usually love Rae Carson, and this book was good. However, it wasn‘t great. I‘m not convinced that this book was necessary. Not a lot happened in terms of plot. Still, I enjoyed the characters and the writing so I finished the series. #ya #western #raecarson #walkoneartastranger #audiobook

Gotta take a break from my current audiobook (UNEARTHED) to get to this library listen. I really liked the first two books in the series. Hopefully this conclusion will live up.

Is there anything better than fresh brewed coffee and a book? Finished this today and it was fine, but I‘m not convinced this part of the story needed a full book. I LOVED the 1st book in the series but the 2nd and 3rd both felt a little drawn-out to me. I liked the characters and I enjoy reading Carson, but I‘d say the book is worth reading if you feel strongly about finishing off the series but you could also just stop after book one.

Day 11 #bibliophilelife Starting a book from the library and having to return it before finishing and then picking it up again later after a gap of time (and sometimes in a different format)...am I only the one who has to do this way too often? Case in point, I‘m now reading the hardcover version but a month ago, I read 1/3 of the ebook loan. Not recommended if you dislike going back to remind yourself what you already read 😆 #12daysofbookstagram

Mdargusch I hate that. I have trouble picking up books I stopped reading that I own for that very reason. 6y

My favorite of the trilogy. Everything (and everyone) comes together. One of my favorite parts, strangely, was the author's note, which talks about how much research was required to write this. Diverse and delightful and satisfying.

Finished this yesterday. Solid ending to this trilogy that takes place during the 1850s Gold Rush. The main character is a girl who has the “magic” ability to detect gold. This obviously complicated as well as enhanced her life as she travels from Georgia to California in a wagon train. This last book focuses on San Francisco and the crooks and shady characters that tried to take advantage of people trying to eke out a living. #YA #goodnotgreat

The husband took me out to dinner! Some things:

1. Just discovered the stickers for the pictures! 😂😎 #lifechanging
2. Is it rude to bring a book to a restaurant? I feel like it‘s ok but I think it‘s pretty controversial.📚🍽🍺

WanderingBookaneer 1. 😂 2. I never leave home without a book or two! 6y

Tonight is just one of those nights. A long, stressful week (and it‘s only Wednesday), nobody wanted to make dinner, it‘s gloomy and rainy 🌫🌧🌬 outside. I have to finish this book TONIGHT- I promised a student I‘d have it for her tomorrow-I have to read over 💯 pages! All of this calls for hot peach 🍑 freshly brewed tea and a cozy cookie. #cerealfordinner #reading

MicheleinPhilly I approve of your dinner choice. Hope it‘s a relaxing evening! 6y

Overall I loved the characters throughout the series and their growth from beginning to end but I was pretty disappointed in the slow, sometimes boring plot in this one. The finale really deserved to be much more exciting than it was. Still, I really enjoyed the series and would recommend it.

raelaschoenherr I totally had the same feelings about this one! 6y

Wow, was this a tough day! District mandates which basically amount to busy work are so hard to swallow when I already feel overwhelmed. I don‘t want to whine but I hate when I can‘t actually TEACH because all the other stuff (that doesn‘t positively impact student learning) gets in the way. 😡🤦🏻‍♀️And that‘s on top of the crazy that is students on the week of 🎃. I‘m going to try not to feel guilty about taking time to read. #teacherlife

Cinfhen What's the book about? The blurb was empty 😔 6y
ElishaLovesBooks @cinfhen it‘s the 3rd in a YA series about a girl who can sense gold during the 1850‘s gold rush. You can imagine how that can be both beneficial and problematic. I have to read it fast, I have students breathing down my neck for it!😂 (edited) 6y
Cinfhen Ha!! That's great that the students are itching to read 6y

Enjoyed the finish to this historical fantasy. Got a little bored a couple of times with the heist-y themes since I've recently read the Six of Crows duology but overall a good wrap up for Lee's journey.

Ah, my reading energy is being pulled in too many directions right now! I keep hopping between all of these, picking one up and then flipping over to another. Or wanting to start one and telling myself to finish the other first. A couple are re-reads, why am I spending time I could be spending on new books? This includes all formats too—#audiobook, ebook, print book, owned, library, and #netgalley. Hopefully I can find my focus this weekend 😆

Emiller I‘m having the same problem right now too! 7y
raelaschoenherr @Emiller Glad I‘m not alone! What‘s your strategy, haha?? ☺️ 7y
MarriedtoMrT I have a nice stack of in progress as well, including a few audiobooks. 🤷‍♀️ You are not alone! I hope you can knock a few out soon. (edited) 7y
raelaschoenherr @MarriedtoMrT It‘s a good problem to have—too many good books! Just finished an audio today at least. Have you read any of these I should bump up? 7y
