pickWidower and single dad Bill‘s daughter Summer disappears and this then found badly beaten. He is driven to rash actions trying to learn what happened to her. I guessed most of the twists and thus burned a bit more slowly than I would like in a thriller. A soft pick, but still a pick.

pickRecommend by my local indie bookstore Murder By The Book. Crazy twists keep you guessing on who is responsible including who they initially find in the woods.

so-soGood twists and turns, but most are predictable. I think this one was a little too monotone for me. I would have liked it better with some more viewpoints. Still a good read though! 🌟🌟🌟

pickFantastic! I finished this yesterday and loved every page of it! I super-love the pacing and the perfectly executed twists. I also love that Bill's imperfections and strengths are on display for the world as he searches for answers and justice for his daughter. I think Bill's desperation as a parent allowed me to personally connect with him more.
Now I have a major book hangover! I'm also on a quest for David Bell's entire backlist.

As an aside, the cover of this book always makes me do a double take. It's leaves, I know, but first glance always makes me think koi pond.

pickSolid book about a father in search of his missing daughter. It's not over the top, just good storytelling with a twist or two or three. Definitely worth checking out.

so-soMeh... gripping enough to keep the pages turning but with some big holes by the end... the plot has some genuine surprises along with some turns easy to spot miles off...

This is the story of Bill, a widower raising a teenaged daughter, Summer. One night, Summer and her best friend go out, & they don't come home. They're found days later, Summer beaten badly, and her friend dead.
But ... There's so much more. And I can't say any of it.
I can say I really like the way Bell writes father/daughter relationships. He makes them real, honest, difficult, yet still special.
In a year when I'm attempting 7 challenges, including Mt Everest in #mounttbr I have no business reading 5 ARCs in a month...but here I go with #5😜
