Bring Her Home
Bring Her Home | David Bell
In the breathtaking new thriller from David Bell, bestselling author of Since She Went Away and Somebody I Used to Know, the fate of two missing teenage girls becomes a father's worst nightmare.... Just a year and a half after the tragic death of his wife, Bill Price's fifteen-year-old daughter, Summer, and her best friend, Haley, disappear. Days later, the girls are found in a city park. Haley is dead at the scene, while Summer is left beaten beyond recognition and clinging to life. As Bill holds vigil over Summer's bandaged body, the only sound the unconscious girl can make is one cryptic and chilling word: No. And the more time Bill spends with Summer, the more he wonders what happened to her. Or if the injured girl in the hospital bed is really his daughter at all. When troubling new questions about Summer's life surface, Bill is not prepared for the aftershocks. He'll soon discover that both the living and the dead have secrets. And that searching for the truth will tear open old wounds that pierce straight to the heart of his family... Widower and single dad Bill‘s daughter Summer disappears and this then found badly beaten. He is driven to rash actions trying to learn what happened to her. I guessed most of the twists and thus burned a bit more slowly than I would like in a thriller. A soft pick, but still a pick.

Recommend by my local indie bookstore Murder By The Book. Crazy twists keep you guessing on who is responsible including who they initially find in the woods.

Good twists and turns, but most are predictable. I think this one was a little too monotone for me. I would have liked it better with some more viewpoints. Still a good read though! 🌟🌟🌟

BRING HER HOME by David Bell led us through the horror of a child gone missing and dying as well as learning the steps taken in a police investigation with this type of crime. FULL REVIEW at this link. https://silversolara.blogspot.com/2017/08/bring-her-home-by-david-bell.html?m=0

This domestic thriller had twists and red herrings (although I saw through a few of them) but felt like a much lighter read than I had expected. I wasn't a fan of the main character and felt like the intensity for a suspense read just wasn't there. It's an okay read but not nearly as suspenseful as I had hoped. Who else has read it? Fantastic! I finished this yesterday and loved every page of it! I super-love the pacing and the perfectly executed twists. I also love that Bill's imperfections and strengths are on display for the world as he searches for answers and justice for his daughter. I think Bill's desperation as a parent allowed me to personally connect with him more.

Now I have a major book hangover! I'm also on a quest for David Bell's entire backlist.

Taking a break from my current read to listen to a @bookriot podcast. Ninko has started joining me for them! Guess she want some reading refs and book news as well! #catsoflitsy

As an aside, the cover of this book always makes me do a double take. It's leaves, I know, but first glance always makes me think koi pond.

Solid book about a father in search of his missing daughter. It's not over the top, just good storytelling with a twist or two or three. Definitely worth checking out.

Meh... gripping enough to keep the pages turning but with some big holes by the end... the plot has some genuine surprises along with some turns easy to spot miles off...

Bakingbookworm I'm 3/4 into this book and I'm not finding it as gripping as I had hoped. 3y

Thank you @davidbellnovels @getredpr @BerkleyPub for sending me a copy! I rated it 3.5/5 stars but rounded to 4 on goodreads! I really enjoyed this book and it was a very fast read. I didn't think it was the best thriller I'd ever read but it kept my interest👍

Another solid entry from David Bell!
This is the story of Bill, a widower raising a teenaged daughter, Summer. One night, Summer and her best friend go out, & they don't come home. They're found days later, Summer beaten badly, and her friend dead.
But ... There's so much more. And I can't say any of it.
I can say I really like the way Bell writes father/daughter relationships. He makes them real, honest, difficult, yet still special.

In a year when I'm attempting 7 challenges, including Mt Everest in #mounttbr I have no business reading 5 ARCs in a month...but here I go with #5😜

Redjewel_7734 I know right!!! I've made no progress on my challenges or tbr because I keep getting fantastic arcs & getting distracted by wonderful new releases. I may just have to fess up to not being a challenge reader but a more eclectic random reader. 3y
Sweettartlaura @Redjewel_7734 No shame in that😉. That's pretty much what I was until I started challenges a couple years ago... When I finally admitted my TBR bookcase is a problem 😳. I am making progress on that... But then there are ARCs, or book club picks, or #BOTM, or sales, or just random goodness I cannot put off... I'm just glad I'm not alone 😉 3y
