Existential Monday
Existential Monday: Philosophical Essays | Benjamin Fondane
4 posts
Benjamin Fondanewho was born and educated in Romania, moved as an adult to Paris, lived for a time in Buenos Aires, where he was close to Victoria Ocampo, Jorge Luis Borgess friend and publisher, and died in Auschwitzwas an artist and thinker who found in every limit, in every border, a torture and a spur. Poet, critic, man of the theater, movie director, Fondane was the most daring of the existentialists, a metaphysical anarchist, affirming individual against those great abstractions that limit human freedomthe State, History, the Law, the Idea. Existential Monday, the first selection of his philosophical work to appear in English, includes four of Fondane's most thought-provoking and important texts, "Existential Monday and the Sunday of History," "Preface for the Present Moment," "Man Before History" (co-translated by Andrew Rubens), and "Boredom." Here Fondane, until now little-known except to specialists, emerges as one of the enduring French philosophers of the twentieth century.

#HaikuADay #HaikuHive

Today‘s haiku…better late than never. It was indeed a Monday. This one is inspired by @dabbe telling me not to forget to breathe out on yesterday‘s haiku.

A deep exhale out
Week begins, what lies ahead?
Guarded hope flickers.

Itchyfeetreader Love this and the pass forward of the reminder that a deep brew to r can make every thing a little easier 5h

1. Sundays
2. Too difficult... Not touching on bands, just solo artists: Ani Difranco, Childish Gambino, Sunwoo JungA, Shakey Graves, so so many musicians I love. Who my favorite is depends on my mood really.
3. Work. :/ I work every other Monday, open to close.
4. Just finished The Book of Lies yesterday.

mutlee Love Ani! Soundtrack of my college days. 6y
madamereadsalot1 @mutlee she's amazing! Been a favorite since a now deceased friend introduced me to her in the late 90's. As Is was my first Ani song, and I've been in love since. What's your favorite Ani song? Mine is probably Both Hands, or maybe Buildings and Bridges. Oh, Studying Stones! Ok, picking one is hard. 😆 6y
mutlee So hard to pick one! Probably Shy. I‘ve never had a chance to see her live. That would be amazing! 6y
madamereadsalot1 @mutlee she came through Houston about 3 years ago and I got to see her! It was amazing! If you get the chance, take it, do not miss the experience!! 6y
