Book #4 in the series. And I finally learn how Isabella becomes Lady Trent! Another good story, quite interesting. I wish there were more than five of these.

Finished this and going to the last in this series 📖😋
Misty and Christine, thank you both so much for this beautiful bookmark (my picture really doesn't do it justice; it's so lovely!). With everything that's been going on for my family, it was such a comfort to open an unexpected gift from two wonderful Littens 💕💕

Spent today rearranging and making myself a cozy reading nook 💜📚💜
4/5⭐ What it lacks in strong narration (so much worldbuilding infodumping--interesting but not attention-grabbing), it by far makes up for with strong, utterly delightful characters. I adore Tom & Isabella's friendship & working partnership. One scene about 80% in now holds top position on my favorite book scenes list; it was perfectly built up to over the course of 4 books, & I haven't had such a joyful reaction to unfolding events in a while.
79% done with the book.
BEST. SCENE. EVER.
Excuse me, did I just unexpectedly read the most satisfying result of the best-woven lead up to a romance scene I've ever encountered? Why yes, I believe I have. 💕
“A widow has freedoms a wife does not. But when I look at you, I do not see obstacles for my career, I see-” My face burned even more. “I see wings. A way to fly higher and further than I can on my own.”
I AM SLAIN
“I sometimes imagine there is a clerk behind a desk situated between the brain & the mouth. It is his job to examine utterances on their way out, & stamp them with approval or send them back for reconsideration. If such a clerk exists, mine must be very harried & overworked; and on occasion he puts his head down on the desk in despair, letting things pass without so much as a second glance.“
Previous spoiler line not included, but ISABELLA OMG.
Lady Trent is once again off to foreign climes (think Northwest Africa), where an agreement betwixt 2 nations has her building a breeding program for the native dragon population. Nothing ever runs quite so smoothly though and there're kidnappings, assassination attempts, & a bit of romance too. There's only 1 book left in the series and I will be sad when it ends because who doesn't want to spend time travelling around the world studying dragons?
More light escapism. Desert setting this time.
I wish the quest companions had more life in them, particularly Tom. Author seems to do a passable job introducing them, then they just sort of either fade into the background or support the main character. More noticeable in this one because no major quest companions were introduced - it's people from previous books.
Still a light fun read though.
Day 4 of #7days7covers I love this dragons!
I love this book so much, but of course my favourite part is when -- well, I'd better not say. Spoilers! It's a delight, anyway.
Also a delight, Breakfast Bun is still here. His physical symptoms are still horrible and saddening, but he's eating, drinking and reacting with joy to us and to slices of banana. We're not giving up. #BunniesofLitsy
(Treat your buns preventatively for E. caniculi, guys. 50% of healthy buns have a dormant infection.)
Breakfast Bun is still very sick and we don't know if he will pull through, so I'm abandoning my carefully constructed to read list for something familiar and comforting. Isabella is such a awesome protagonist.
Continued good thoughts for our bunnyboy would be appreciated.
Another fantastic book in this delightful series! Such wonderful reads that are so easy to just fall into. Isabella is a charming character and I truly adore her. As usual, the illustrations were gorgeous, I just want more of them. I also want even more information about the ancient civilizations and the history of this world as well as a proper world map. But so good!!
Surprise books from the boyfriend
It's been quite a while since I've read an entire book in a day, and oh how I've missed it. I couldn't stop reading! This is my favorite of the series so far.
Now starting the fourth book 😝📖
What can I even say? Isabella is my hero. I love her relationships with everyone in this book. Andrew, Tom, Suhail. They're all just so perfect ❤️❤️❤️
This is probably my favorite of the bunch, I have so much love for this world and these characters. Isabella has kept me company for about a week now, but unfortunately I must languish on the library hold list for the 5th book. My evening seems bleak with the lack of dragons 😭
The fourth book in an excellent series set in a Victorian-esque fantasy world about a lady scientist who studies dragons in the wild. Full of politics as is the entire series but also full of the wonder of new discoveries both natural and archaeological. Some past plot points come to head in a very satisfactory way for me at least. The biggest flaws are the countries and places are obviously just our world's locations and cultures with new names.
First books of the year that aren't a carry over from 2017's "currently-reading" stack.
This series is so good. So good, I stayed up well past my bedtime to finish this book. READ IT
When both of your library holds come in at the same time. Which to read first?
This was an excellent addition to the series. It continued the trend of exceeding the previous book in writing, character development, and adventure. I am thoroughly entranced by these books. And of course, you can never go wrong with dragons!
What beautiful books these are 💛🐉

This is printed in rust ink. The previous one in the series was in blue ink. I put the bookmark here for comparison, because i felt like it was hard to see in the other pictures i took. It's not difficult to read. Pretty cool.
" I can't write a letter saying,'misplaced your naturalists,so sorry, but got them back mostly on one piece.' "-Suhail. Suhail is one of my favorite characters. #nighttimeraids #nomads #dragons
I want a honey seeker as a pet. #dragons
I really should be reading "Around the World in 80 Days" or "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". I have "The Explorers Guild as Well", but I'm not sure if the writing is my cup of tea. Maybe I'll have June's theme be all the books I didn't get to/finished in previous months. #dragons #stillnewlandsthough
Jealous of my friend's book right now and wish iiiii was reading about dragons. Camping it up today on the lake!🔥
I think so far this one is my favorite of the series. I don't know what to generally say about it and the series that I haven't already with the previous books. lol. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ of 5
Now playing. [its Friday. Today started out well until I got rear-ended on the way to work (not serious), and now I'm out of it and just want to go home to my copy of empire of storms. Alas, I must adult and work. Le sigh]
I loved this book! As much as I love the fact that Isabella is a scientist I love even more that she seems like someone I'd be friends with.
Just finished this book, and I'm positively devastated to realize how recently it was published.
So who doesn't love this series? Such a great combo of fantasy, humor, alternate history, and ... dragons. Oh and a heroine to admire. Don't miss these books.
