“It has been said that the blessing is next to the wound.”
“It has been said that the blessing is next to the wound.”
“Remember that this moment, this day, is one stitch in a tapestry of days. Remember that you cannot—should not—see the shape unfolding before you. Spend it all anyway. Gamble with your whole self.”
“I sit down every day at around the same time and put myself in the path of inspiration… If I don‘t sit down, if I‘m not there working, then inspiration will pass right by me…”
“That knowledge, that ping, the hair on your arms standing up, that sudden, electric sense of knowing. We must learn to watch for these moments. To not discount them… Like falling in love, moments that announce themselves as your subject are rare, and there‘s magic to them. Ignore them at your own peril.”
“Pain engraves a deeper memory… Pain carves details into us, yes. I would wager, though, that great joy does as well.”
“Whatever it is that makes us feel secure in our physical space allows us to make the leap, hoping that the page will catch us. Writing, after all, is an act of faith.”
“I was strangled by my own ego, by my petty desire for what I perceived to be the literary brass ring. I was missing the point, of course. The reward is in the doing.”
“Straining to know the whole of the story before you set out is a bit like imagining great-grandchildren on a first date.”
“The page is your mirror. What happens inside you is reflected back. You come face-to-face with your own resistance, lack of balance, self-loathing, and insatiable ego—and also with your singular vision, guts, and fortitude. No matter what you've achieved the day before, you begin each day at the bottom of the mountain.”
“We are all unsure of ourselves. Every one of us walking the planet wonders, secretly, if we are getting it wrong. We stumble along. We love and we lose. At times, we find unexpected strength, and at other times, we succumb to our fears. We are impatient. We want to know what's around the corner, and the writing life won't offer us this. It forces us into the here and now. There is only this moment, when we put pen to page.”

I‘ve been neglecting my library books so I‘m tackling those as well 😅

Library haul! My hold for ACOTAR finally came in. I‘m finally jumping on the bandwagon cause several people have recommended it, but since I‘ve seen so many mixed reviews I decided to borrow instead of buy for now. Then I grabbed these other two from the library‘s writing display.

Back on the writing wagon with this rad new notebook! Also, pretty sure “Just a Phase” would be a great title for a sitcom about queer werewolves.

I like Dani Shapiro, really relate to her on different levels, and plan to read her other books that I have not read. However, I found this one to be mediocre for me. She was repetitive in a number of essays which comprised this book which left me wanting more. I think it‘s worth a read though for those interested in writers and writing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fill your ears with the music of good sentences. Reading great work is exhilarating.

I'm taking my time with this one; it has some real gems. 📖

So I definitely shouldn‘t buy a bottle of wine based entirely on the label, right?

Continuing to make my journaling corner more inspiring.

Still Writing inspired me to finally set up the journaling corner I‘ve been wanting.

My next read. And my pen chaser.

Although I planned on binge reading all day with a puppy by my side, on a whim I decided to use a few more of my gift certificates won on Indie Bookstore Day- and one of my stops was in the town in CT which is basically Stars Hollow and has a BEAUTIFUL book shop.
Ended up spending more time/money than I‘d anticipated but I‘m really really glad. It‘s exactly the Saturday I needed this week! More stacks & pics to come. #bookhaul

Trying to get some writing done at the local watering hole. And kick my loneliness. And ease the adrenaline rush of a 9 hour rehearsal today.

It‘s almost 3am here and I have had too much caffeine. At least I‘m being productive with it?

I‘m reading this inspiring book with my coffee this morning! The best start to a morning writing session I can think of. Now off to work on Emmy Nation 2. #emmynationbooks #writinginspiration #stillwriting

Does anyone else ever get that guilt where they feel like they should be writing (or anything really) but can‘t bring themselves to do it and so don‘t do anything else either? I could at least be reading but instead I‘m staring at the wall.

I‘ve been doing morning pages for just over six months now. My words are starting to get a bit stale so I‘m rereading books about writing to see if I can shake things up a bit.

A thoughtful gift from a friend... I love #thewritinglife

Loving the balance of my reading list right now. I little work related with the #emmynationbooks, a little #writinginspiration from Dani Shapiro and one of my #favouriteauthors with Britt-Marie Was Here 💜💜📚📚

I'm so glad I own this book because I might need to keep reading it for the rest of my life.

Found this journal- felt very appropriate 😂😂😂
