In the past year, I have read a couple of Agatha Christie novels for the first time. I have loved reading her books, so I was excited to pick up Marie Benedict's new release about the mysterious ten days when Agatha Christie went missing in 1926.
Definitely worth a read if you are an Agatha Christie fan.

Good morning! Brewing some tea and connecting with some poetry this morning.
I came across this collection of poetry by @morganharpernichols this summer and I am in love with the beautiful art and words. I keep coming back to this book in the hard times of this year. 📚☕️

One by One is set at a remote ski chalet where a group of colleagues have come for a luxury work retreat. But, of course, a storm and avalanche hit, cutting off all communication with the outside world and one of them is a killer.
Some reviews have said the story is too obvious, but I didn‘t really notice or care, I was far too wrapped up in the world of the book. I loved the way the story unfolded!

The last of my holiday books! I absolutely fell in love with this book. It is a slow story that meanders to the exact conclusion that you want it to reach. The Scottish country is the perfect setting for a Christmas read and the hesitancy of all the characters to actually celebrate the holidays makes for a nuanced celebration that feels honest and real

SilversReviews LOVE her books.....haven‘t read this one. 3y

Good morning! Going back to some holiday romance, this week I read The Twelve Dates of Christmas.
I‘m sure you can guess the plot of this book. It follows Kate on her journey through 12 dates as she tries to find love. It is a really cute story and a great escape from the crazy world we live in right now. Be warned though… you are probably going to want a lot of hot chocolates and tasty treats while ready this book as Kate is a baker for a cafe.

This was my first time reading P.D. James and although I didn‘t love all the stories, I really enjoyed most of them. I especially enjoyed being introduced to her famous detective, Adam Dalgliesh, in the story “The Twelve Clues of Christmas”. I was amazed at how much James fit into such short stories, and although the endings were not always surprising, I was ok with that because of the length of the stories.

Good morning!
In a Holidaze has been making quite the splash on #bookstagram and I absolutely loved it. It was a great, lighthearted holiday romance. Perfect for snuggling up and binge reading in a night.
This is a Groundhog Day type story but set around Christmas in the picture perfect setting of a snow covered cabin. #booklove #bookbinge #morningswithabook #christmasromance

One of my favourite books that I read this year.
Michael Christie‘s writing is beautiful and the story is unique and fascinating. I loved each generation and the structure was so interesting. On top of that, the hardcover books is absolutely beautiful. This book is mostly a historical fiction, but it moves into the present day and then into a future that is more in line with apocalypse stories, so it covers a wide range of genres.

Mexican Gothic | Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Mexican Gothic was one of my most memorable reads this year.
I found this book to be a really fun read. It had all the classic gothic elements, large creepy house, foggy scenery, off putting servants, and more, while feeling really contemporary. It took some crazy turns! I found the writing was incredibly engaging and I read through this really fast, needing to know what the big secret was. I was not disappointed.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I can‘t wait to read this one! 3y
SamAnne I'm looking forward to the Hulu adaptation. I hope they make it campy! 3y
LDavisMunro @SamAnne I hadn‘t heard it was being adapted. I agree, I hope the lean right into all the wacky elements of the book. 3y

Good morning! I finished The Midnight Library over the weekend and I loved it. 💕 It follows the story of Nora who finds a place between life and death that takes the form of a library. She can choose any other variation of her life to visit and if she finds one that doesn‘t disappoint she can live in it permanently. I love this premise and I found Nora‘s journeys to her multiple lives really interesting. This is a quick, life affirming read.

Good morning! A cup of tea and the last few pages of this book greeted me this morning. This is a hard book to read in terms of subject matter but Hernandez weaves a beautiful story that flashes in and out of the past and present, giving the reader backstory on the protagonist and the political situation. The characters really drive this story in their response to the politicians and white privilege that creates the environment of oppression.

Good morning! Fredrik Blackman is one of my favourite authors and I absolutely loved his newest novel, “Anxious People”. Set during an apartment viewing which turns into a hostage situation after a failed bank robbery, this book has all the things I love about Fredrik Backman‘s writing. The characters are funny, quirky, but so heartwarming and relatable. And the story weaves itself together charmingly and with just the right amount of humour.

Good morning ☕️ This morning I finished reading Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz. This is a fun read in the classic whodunnit genre but with the added element of a whodunnit book within the book. Super fun and clever, I loved the characters and the twists and turns. I was surprised by both endings 🤭 📚#morningswithabook #morningsspentreading #whodunnits #magpiemurders #bookstagram

I often have a hard time when books have unreliable narrators, but Anna is so engrossing and although at times you aren‘t sure if you can trust her as the reader, I was always on her side. Total #gutsyheroine, Anna goes above and beyond to protect people she cares for, despite her personal struggles.
