Goodbye Christopher Robin
Goodbye Christopher Robin: A. A. Milne and the Making of Winnie-the-Pooh | Ann Thwaite
11 posts | 5 read | 7 to read
Goodbye Christopher Robin: A.A. Milne and the Making of Winnie-the-Pooh is drawn from Ann Thwaites Whitbread Award-winning biography of A. A. Milne , one of Englands most successful writers. After serving in the First World War, Milne wrote a number of well-received plays, but his greatest triumph came when he created Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and, of course, Christopher Robin, the adventurous little boy based on his own son. Goodbye Christopher Robin inspired the film directed by Simon Curtis and starring Domhnall Gleeson, Margot Robbie and Kelly Macdonald. It offers the reader a glimpse into the relationship between Milne and the real-life Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of the Hundred Acre Wood. Goodbye Christopher Robin is a story of celebrity, a story of both the joys and pains of success and, ultimately, the story of how one man created a series of enchanting tales that brought hope and comfort to an England ravaged by the First World War.

Here‘s December‘s #BookSpinBingo card. This month my #BookSpin is the tagged book and my #DoubleSpin is Winter Trees by Sylvia Plath. I‘m doing hot cocoa for my freebies this month because I really do get down on cocoa this time of year like Scott Calvin 😂🎅🏻

Ya'll you need to see the new movie Christopher Robin. Right. In. The. Feels. It should be required viewing for adults, lest we all become our own heffalumps and woozels.

Texreader I can‘t wait to see it. Just need to squeeze in one more time at Mamma Mia before it goes away 6y

I tried to read this biography in college, but couldn‘t get through it. I finally watched the film adaptation last night and LOVED it! This is an emotional movie of a husband who suffers from PTSD after WWI and how sadness falls over war-torn England. Billy Moon is born and a father/son relationship unfolds while the viewer sees the true cost of creating Winnie the Pooh. I highly recommend the film. I‘m giving the biography another try now.

I‘m thinking the movie is probably better. Maybe it‘s my non-fiction resistant brain, but this one dragged on. It‘s probably my #lastreadof2017 !

CarolynM I haven't read it but I liked the movie 6y
