This one confused me. I‘m not sure why. It clearly has a following & the writer has worked on Lumberjanes so, Cool! Lumberjanes!

As you can see we have several mythical creatures working in a coffee stop. The centaur loses his centaur 🍑 to an evil ghost magician & can‘t stop crying over his great centaur 🍑.

Okay then. Just doesn‘t work for me but take your chance & try it.

It‘s currently a Hoopla Free Borrow.

slategreyskies I‘ve totally been post stalking you. I clicked on one of your posts and then just fell down the rabbit hole of them. Okay, I‘ll stop now. lol 10mo

The adorable art and fun characters drew me into this comic. Its pages are full of #lgbtq characters, and this comic explores #anxiety and #panicdisorders. If you like cute art, magic, and mythical creatures, give this one a read! #queerbook #queercomic #magic #werewolf #centaur #nonbinary #genderqueer #lgbtcharacter

Something with this graphic novel just didn't quite work for me. I adore Grace Ellis and typically love everything she does, but this was just okay for me.

The concept was great, the artwork beautiful, but the story, although I liked the characters, felt flat to me. I'll try the next volume at some point to see if perhaps I enjoy that one more.

I happened to fall into this coffee shop au by accident and it was the best kind of accident as I fell in love with it from page one - the MC is a lovely, awkward and a plus-sized latinx lesbian that is trying to juggle work and falling in love.. oh and being a werewolf!

There were some panels that seemed a bit confusing but I can only hope that as the story progresses, those can be remedied as I see a lot of potential in story and artwork.

I liked this, even though I think the plot could have been a bit better particularly in the last two issues that make up this volume. The art is awesome! It‘s queer, diverse, and probably ok for some middle graders. I couldn‘t find what ages it was recommend for but I also did look that hard. I think the comic is cancelled and it‘s moving more into a graphic novel format.

Mild pick. There are so many good things here (diversity and adorableness and great art), but they can‘t overcome the messy plot that gets just kind of cobbled together at the end with no satisfaction to the conclusion. This has lots of potential, but it is not fulfilled in this first go-round.

This comic is sweet and fun! The cast of gay and non-binary characters is perfection and the relationships are real. The main female couple has problems just like everyone else. There is no idealization of gay relationships like a lot of other media. Gay relationships are the same as straight relationships. I loved this comic.

I loved absolutely everything about this! Characters, world building, language, the art and the color are so dreamy 😍 basically all i want out of life is to hang out in a cafe full of delightful fantastic beings and occasionally solve mysteries with them. Each character, including the villian, would be great featured in a one shot issue backstory. There seems like so much more story to tell. #mommyreads #queer #comics

Cute lesbian-werewolf-romance / slice-of-life-in-a-real-world-with-magical-elements #graphicnovel by Lumberjanes co-creator Grace Ellis. A heap of great characters (centaur, minotaur, witches, poltergeists, vampire bats, humans, etc.) plus cool, colourful art by Shae Beagle (main story) and Kate Leth (story-within-a-story) plus pop culture & literary references. It‘s all about friendship & self-image; a delight for all ages. #LGBTQ #comics

Emoji-face! I love visual humour like this, and also Julie‘s snarky notes (in red) as she rereads a book* because it‘s her crush‘s favourite, even though Julie doesn‘t like it as much as others in the series. “But if Selena likes it, then maybe I missed something amazing the first times I read it.”

*Pleasant Mountain Sisters #29: Super-Solver Mystery: Barking Up the Wrong Tree by Betsy Buxton (tee hee). Pages from this are interleaved throughout.

This was a super cute soft fantasy comic set in a world where magical creatures live and work casually amongst humans. The main character is a werewolf barista navigating her new relationship with her girlfriend while also investigating the nefarious magician who stole her nonbinary centaur coworker‘s centaurness. The plot wraps up a little abruptly but I love this world and these characters and will happily check out where they take this next!

This is the absolute crappiest monthly review I've ever done, but here it is. And I think 11 books isn't too bad considering all the wedding stuff I've had to do. The tagged book is my favorite for the month based on the fact that our was adorable, inclusive, and full of great art.

Honestly this is between a pan and a so-so for me. A lot of elements I like, a seemingly normal supernatural society and wlw, but I just couldn't get into it. I didn't care one bit for the characters and thought they were over the top and obnoxious almost the entire time. I really liked the art!

Well, I caved into temptation and bought the new Stephen King today. I was going to wait a couple weeks until I finished ‘Salem‘s Lot, but I‘m jealous of the people already reading it. 😂

I also bought Moonstruck vol. 1. I‘ve never heard of it, but it seems right up my alley! I really love he artwork.

And earlier I swung by the library and picked up some graphic novels. I‘m all set for a long weekend of reading! 📚📚

This was such a fun magical, queer girl mystery with adorable artwork. The main characters a werewolf with anxiety named Julie going through life. There were some stressful moments in the relationship between Julie and Selena but I‘m overlooking it for the fun friendship with Chet the centaur. This is the first volume and I can‘t wait to pick up the next!

Picked this one up on impulse because the cover was cute. Sadly, this one wasn't for me.

It had an interesting premise, and was very specific about using inclusive language and representation, but the storytelling felt jumpy and a little underdeveloped. I liked that the main character had anxiety, but it meant that she never wanted to participate in the plot, which is a frustrating trait in a protagonist. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
