I love this. I get so sick of all the onus being put om the consumer - we absolutely need to work together, but corporations and governments need to take some responsibility too.

1. Going back to my belly dance class - I've not danced since before my baby was born over a year ago, it's been great getting back into it.
2. I'm most excited about running my first half marathon this year, eek!
3. It's too early in the year for a favourite yet 😉
4. I found this on @BookBabe 's profile, so thank you!
@wanderinglynn thanks for the fun prompts!
What are you reading this WWW Wednesday? This meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. Here's my contribution if you fancy a look: https://wp.me/p6IFne-fE
1. Yes and plenty of it!
2. It's about 50/50
3. Anything to do with feminism and society
4. Delusions of Gender by Cordelia Fine
5. Inferior by Angela Saini - excellent book
Thanks for the prompts from @wanderinglynn , whichI spotted on @LibrarianRyan 's profile 📚
I've had a good #bookhaul lately, can't wait to read some of these! 📚
I'm loving this book - although it's hard to believe that it, in the 21st century, we're still clinging to the idea that men and women are so different. Scientists desperately searching for differences between male and female brains, differences that simply aren't there.
And why can't people get their heads around the concept that your environment shapes your brain? The evidence is there!
Oh really?! What a surprise 🤨😐😑
I'm loving this book, but it's also making me angry - men who think the world has no bias against women need to read this book. #feminism #feministbooks
Love this quote - I want to throw it at people who can't understand the importance of labels (although usually I think they do, they just don't want to be accommodating of something they don't much care about).
I got more then halfway through but I just couldn't stand any more of it. I'm sorry to those of you who love this author, but I just couldn't get into this. I was over halfway and the main twist referenced on the back of the book was still nowhere to be seen. There are too many perspectives and too much in the way of convoluted mathematics. I'm not sad to put it down.
1. Everyone appreciates a stunning cover, surely? 😊
2. Not me, I prefer to be cosy when reading
3. I prefer to end with the chapter...
4. I have a huge collection of bookmarks and prefer to use them
5. Yes I have, thanks for the fun @SilversReviews 😊
I've been dipping in and out of this anthology since November! I've finally finished it, and I loved it! I love the mixture of different formats for the stories and reading about the experiences of so many different women was refreshing - there's a decent amount of LGBT+ representation and something to appeal to every level of geekery. If Dark Horse do another one, I'm definitely picking it up!
Feeling optimistic about my reading this month 😁
#junetbr #bookstack
I was only there for 1 night, but I really enjoyed my first time at #HayFestival. I got to see Margaret Atwood in conversation and it was wonderful.
I loved this book! I found it accessible and informative, not an easy feat on a topic as complicated and contentious as this. More of my thoughts are on GoodReads: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2329767902
It's definitely been a #manicmonday for me, with my demanding baby! She's finally asleep!
1. I like something light and well-paced, but I'm not especially fussy about the genre.
2. I was a bilingual secretary for a German food company
3. I'm an Internal Communications Business Partner
4. I'd like to stay in Comms, but maybe do something more focussed on digital comms and social media.
5. Always tea 😊
Thanks @JoScho for the prompts!
1. I'm odd in this respect as I don't have a favourite format - I love them all and I'm not ashamed! 😂
2. Usually I'd say bed, but we've got a little one in with us at the moment so the best place for me to grab reading time is probably the train!
3. A hot cup of tea and a biscuit 😊
4. Multiple books - 1 fiction, 1 non-fiction and 1 non-fiction on audio
5. Anytime is good for me! 😉
Thanks for the prompts @thereadingowlvina 📚
I started this on audio before I had my baby in November! Just finished it today! 🙈
I will read anything by Roxane Gay, her essays are excellent and so is this memoir.
Can't wait until Piper is old enough to enjoy this gorgeous book she received from our friends 😁📚
I enjoyed this book, although I found it a bit predictable. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere crested around the family and how the backdrop of the Canadian archipelagos complemented it.
Piper really enjoyed this book, even though she's only 9 weeks old. I think it's because you have to make lots of noises, which she appreciates! This is the first book with an actual story that we've made it through 🤗❤📚
Piper's first library is coming along nicely 😊
Usually when I start my GoodReads challenge for the year, I anticipate reading about 40-50 books. But I had a baby in November and haven't managed to read a thing since! So my goal is small this year...
Good job she's worth it! 😀
I'm loving this book so far, only a little over halfway through but it's got me gripped. When the baby arrives I might not be doing much reading for a while, so I'm glad this one hasn't turned out to be a disappointment!
Some of the writing in this short story collection is just beautiful...
1. 📚😂😃
2. Margaret Atwood, Roxane Gay, Ben Aaronovitch
3. Antenatal class, meal out, reading
4. I'm the eldest - my sister is exactly 13 years younger than me!
5. I'm not tagging anyone, as I don't know anyone on Litsy personally - I don't want to annoy anyone by randomly tagging them!
#Friyayintro
Found these #LitsyQuestions from @GypsyKat that look like fun!
1. Breaking up for maternity leave
2. I particularly like Autumn, such a good time to read spooky, atmospheric books!
3. At the moment, the early 1900s
4. Very little - trying to get through the ones I have!
5. Too many to mention...
6. At the moment, the main thing stopping me is my tired, distracted brain!
7. The number is around the 150-200 mark 🙈
Trying to pick a book to read, and want something with a bit of an autumnal feel - I've narrowed it down to 3 contenders now...
We're on holiday in Cornwall and I managed to make it to Beerwolf Books in Falmouth. It's got a well-stocked book section and some nice beers on tap - so it was appreciated by both me and my husband! 😊
Congratulations to all the #24in48 readathoners, I've been seeing how well everyone has done in my feed! I managed a measly 6 hours, but finished a book and a graphic novel and made good progress through a mystery, so I'm quite pleased! I enjoyed taking part and that's the main thing 😀
I've got a fair few bookish goodies, too many for a photo! My favourites are my tees and my Harry Potter Kindle case, which I'd never be without! #24in48 #readathon
After the second volume I wasn't too eager to start the next one, but this is so much fun I'm glad I didn't disregard it! I'm wondering now if they'll be back with a 4th volume? I guess we'll see 😁 #24in48
Coconut doesn't seem to be enjoying the #24in48 #readathon as much as me!
I just finished this book and I'm not sure how to feel about it. The characterisation seemed patchy in places, and the stories of some side characters were left unresolved, which I found frustrating. It just didn't feel quite like the whole novel had been brought together effectively. The writing is good though, but I'm not sure I'd pick up any other books by the author.
A few things have conspired against me in the readathon so far - 3 knocks at the door, plus I'm getting bad leg cramps so I'm having to get up periodically to stretch. We're off to a party this afternoon so don't think it's going to be a productive reading day, best get back to it! #24in48
I've not been on Litsy for a while - I've not stopped reading, but moving house and busy work life, plus getting ready for new baby, have kept me occupied and I've not been taking photos! So thought I'd take part in #bookishwouldyourather - thanks @Kalalalatja for designing!
1. I like both but I'd probably rather drink wine while reading.
2. More often based on the first page
3. Beach!
4. I like both, if forced to pick = fantasy
5. Neither!
I can't wait to get stuck into this! We're very busy getting our new house ready, but hopefully I'll Greece time to open it tomorrow while enjoying my morning cuppa ☕
1. Derbyshire, England
2. I think it was something I read on Book Riot...
3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - I'm not particularly fussed about any of the others in the series!
4. Can't say I have...
Thank you for the fun prompt @saguarosally :) #welcomelitten
I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this book - the hype surrounding it suggested I probably wouldn't, but once again I'm glad I ignored it and read it anyway. Sarah Perry creates real atmosphere, which often matches the state of mind or the relationships between her characters. Speaking of which, that is what struck me most - the characters. So complicated but well-developed, I cared for and loathed them all at some point in varying degrees. Great book.
Been for a lovely day in Bristol with some friends, and made some good headway on the train journeys with my book - over two hours each way, and it's been lovely, just me and my book 😊
Saw this sign outside my local library and had to share on Litsy 😀
#librarylove
This is the second book in the Peter Grant series and I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one. That said, it is still written with the author's characteristic humour, and it is still good fun, so I'll be picking up the next one when I get chance.
I loved this book! I'm not a massive YA fan, but this was smart and funny - not entirely Sherlock-Holmes-smart though! More than anything I liked the author's depiction of teenagers- she doesn't pretend that teenagers don't have to deal with difficult issues such as drugs and sexual abuse, and she handles it very well. I'd definitely recommend, it's a nice spin on Holmes and Watson!
I've not been on Litsy much lately - I've not been up to much for the past 6 weeks and my reading has really suffered. But this month I'm aiming to finish these three - I'm mostly through the last one, need to start the first two for a group discussion and ahead of a author talk by Sarah Perry in June - can't wait!
I liked a lot of things about this book - the writing was a bit flowery but the characters were interesting and it paints vivid picture of 1980s India, immigration and political problems. But it felt very slow in places and was a very typical "Man Booker book". I feel the same style of writing always wins. I liked it but was a bit frustrated by the ending. #TakeControlThon
I wasn't too fond of this book - although there were aspects I really enjoyed, such as Cline's beautiful writing, I'm not sure what all the hype was about...
The 3-minute review of this book is on my blog if you want to see it. What did others think of this?
As if I wasn't going to love this! I enjoyed this more than the first volume, which was a bit slow for me, but this was great fun! Soooo many silly cat puns! 😻😸😹
The only thing that could make me more excited about a new Margaret Atwood graphic novel - one with a foreword by G. Willow Wilson 😍 😻 💘
