This was a lovely, sweet novel about a dying woman who writes about her dead friends to tell her own story of life.

Liked the idea of this. In a similar fashion to one I read about New York I think. Anyway, it's reading well so far!

Finally getting caught up on my reading challenge and I have found a new “read every book” author in Sofia Lundburg. Really enjoyed a lot of these this month.
This was a sweet book! 96-year-old Doris shares her life story and life lessons with her great-niece. The story moved along quickly and at times I couldn‘t put it down. Glad I read it. ❤️
This is a delightful book. Doris kept an address book with the names of people she met. It forms the heart of her stories about her life, recorded for her niece Jenny. The story alternates between Doris‘ life over the years and her last days in a hospital.
My second #translatedfromswedish book this year.
Doris‘ mother sends her to work at 13, unable to support both her children, offering the blessing quoted. After being a maid, Doris becomes a ‘live mannequin‘ and model in Paris. Then her mother dies and her sister Agnes arrives. And then the War begins.
When Doris and Agnes arrive in the US, they must find a way to survive.

A very satisfying bookish weekend reading the last #LMPBC from this round and going through the notes in my original book. Thanks for a great round Group D! @babyruth2510 @Professional_Book_Dragon @TheAromaofBooks
Got this today #LMPBC
I can‘t believe this round is almost done!
Hey @babyruth2510 this #LMPBC book is heading your way!!!
@Professional_Book_Dragon @Bookwormjillk
I don't want to say much as this was an #LMPBC read, but I did enjoy the structure and story of this one, although I didn't find the mail love story as romantic as I think I was supposed to. Still, an enjoyable read that brings me to 9hrs 4mins for #EasterExtravaganza - on schedule for now, but with a strong chance of falling behind as I work W-F!!
@Andrew65
Join @Andrew65 for a readathon April 12-19!! Set your own goals and read along!!
I'm hoping to push an average of 3hrs/day, so 24 hours total, which I think is doable despite my work schedule. Definitely need to read the tagged #LMPBC book this week!!
#EasterExtravaganza
Hey @Professional_Book_Dragon !!! Your #LMPBC book came today - looks great and I can't wait to read it!!
@Babyruth2510 @bookwormjillk
@TheAromaofBooks it is ready to go! I will mail it tomorrow. Our mail lady came already today before I had it ready.
So, I may have had unreasonable expectations for this. I never really ***felt*** the depth of either the address book or Doris and Jenny's relationship. Here's where my expectations may have been high: I had absolutely The Best Granny In History. Like, I can't tell you about her in the remaining 74 characters great. I was thinking this book was going to be like *that*. 💙 Be jealous. 😉 And, read the book if you have reasonable expectations.

Today‘s Prompt: FAVORITE BOOK OF 2019
There were too many great and favorite books last year, but I‘m going with one I reviewed on January 2, 2019!!
LOVED this book.
REVIEW: https://tinyurl.com/vl534ex
I didn‘t love this as much as everyone else. The premise is fantastic but the modern story line was stilted, simplistic, and too unbelievable. The past stories of Doris‘ life told by the address book entries were better but still not as emotionally engaging as I‘d hoped. Full review at https://booknaround.blogspot.com/2019/10/review-red-address-book-by-sofia.html
“So many names that pass by us during a lifetime. Have you ever thought about that, Jenny? All the names that come and go. That rip our hearts to pieces and make us shed tears. That become lovers or enemies. I leaf through my address book sometimes.“
A sweet story about Doris, a 96 year old woman nearing the end of her life. I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.
“The greatest comfort in life comes from freely expressing one‘s opinion and being met with nothing but love in return, even when opinions diverge.”❤️
After reading The Red Address Book I was determined to find my own pink address book - I FOUND IT!!! Took my own trip down memory lane, just like Doris, the book‘s main character, did.
Such a lovely read. This book kept me company while recovering from a surgery. It made me think of my girlhood pink address book and it was a trip down memory lane to thumb through it. Memories, sadness, hope and joy pervade the pages of this book. The perfect companion while I recuperated. You will laugh, gasp, cry and rejoice along with Doris as she recalls the amazing moments in her life while thinning through her red address book.
Love, love, love! The story of 96 year old Doris as she reflects on her life by sharing stories of all the people she met through her life. Beautiful and touching, emotional and witty, it is the testament of love standing the test of time and battling the odds. Read it! Its wonderful.
Page 33. "I wish you enough....." So in love with this book. I can't put it down and don't want it to end at the same time.
Beach read while camping over the long weekend. The story of 96 year old Doris as she remembers the significant people in her life via the entries in her address book. I enjoyed this one ⭐⭐⭐ and a half stars.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
My second 5 star in a row. The story of Doris's life told through her memories looking at the names in her address book. And what a life ! She writes to her great niece Jenny all her memories. I finished this book in one day, couldn't stop reading
1. I have so many, but I'll say going camping in the covered wagon my dad built. We went to state parks.
2 3 sisters, 2 brothers
3 I just checked, 3 years ago, but I've only been very active for the past year or so
4 see tagged book, plus my chair is beside a whole shelf of books!😊

I need to get through my overdrive books, so I can pick up a physical book and read! Seriously I have so many books I want to jump into, what to do?! Sigh...
#BookNBrunch! #ValentinesDay Edition! Tried to go to a trendy boutique brunch spot, and that was a nope...they were slammed, understaffed, and there was a line. So, back to the local 50‘s diner it is! At least the food and service are always consistently good here.
Since it‘s a special occasion, I‘m going carb-indulgent today. Ham/spinach/cheese omelet, crispy hash brown patties, and raisin toast, with coffee.😋 Happy reads & happy eats!
Having trouble finding a book that I like. I am keeping my fingers crossed this is the book that changes that.
A sweet quick read that made me cry. 96 year old Doris lives a lonely life far away from her only relative, great niece Jenny. She tells Jenny the story of her life through her Red Address book, letters and the start of a manuscript. Within those pages you learn about the loves, adventures, tragedies that made up her Aunt Doris's life. Excellent quick read that i couldnt put down. Triggers for war violence, rape and infant loss.
Almost gave up on this one but so glad I didn‘t. Sweet story of true love. Although, it was sad and depressing at times.
Such a clever way of telling the sweet, and sometimes tragic, story of Doris‘s life and those dear to her.
The Red Address Book is beautifully written, unique, joyous and heartbreaking! This novel is part fictional memoir, part historical fiction, part romance and and one hundred percent amazing! The reader learns about and falls in love with Doris as she reminisces through her red address book which contains the names of all the people she has met thoughout her very eventful life. This is a most charming book that I very much enjoyed! Bravo!
This book is a MUST READ!!
PUB DATE is January 8!!
Doris is 96, lives alone in Stockholm, and only has a niece in the United States that she Skypes with.
THE RED ADDRESS BOOK takes us back and forth in Doris' life as she reminisces about her past and all the people that have been in and have touched her life.
This book was a beautiful, beautiful read that I didn't want to end.

This ARC ran the gamut of emotions...heart wrenching, despairing but ultimately triumphant. The life of a 96-year-old Swedish woman is told through letters she writes to her great-niece as she nears the end of her life. It‘s unique, as she centers her narrative around those folks she‘s met in her life who made it into her red address book...some she knew well, some not but almost all ended up with a strike through their name and DEAD written 🔽
Up next, an ARC due out in January. After only the first few pages, I can tell it‘s probably going to break my 💔 , among other things. 😩
This is my current read, The Red Address Book. I was convinced when I saw it was recommended by Fredrik Backman. It‘s about Doris, a 96 year old who is looking back on her life. Very good so far. It‘s out on 1/8.
"I wish you enough," she whispered in my ear. "Enough sun to light up your days, enough rain that you appreciate the sun. Enough joy to strengthen your soul, enough pain that you can appreciate life's small moments of happiness. And enough friends that you can manage a farewell now and then." 4⭐️s. Plus: great cover ❤️
*I received this book through #BookishFirst in exchange for an honest review.
