I‘ve been organizing my bookshelves and getting ready for all the 2020 challenges.

BarbaraTheBibliophage Nice! I just started Miracle Creek today. Have to read a little more and see if it fits a prompt! 🤪 5y

Mdargusch Let me know if it does @BarbaraTheBibliophage so I can double use it! 😂 5y
Soubhiville I love doing this! 5y
Reviewsbylola You‘re much more organized than me. I sometimes plan a month ahead. I can never stick with it if I plan the whole year in advance. 5y
britt_brooke Love this! I need to get more organized. 5y

It was a rainy and chilly holiday Monday so I decided to take the extra day off to begin some seriously needed cleaning, purging and reorganizing. My books are taking over the house so I decided to take the top shelf in my closet (my half anyway) and move my active collections to it. This leaves my other shelves around the house free for the more random books and ones I haven't read yet. Someday, I will own enough shelves to keep them together 😂

I'm having a blah day today so I've decided to pull out my journal and try to get some #readingchallenges organized. It's about time I took this out of the package and put it to use!

Trying to stay on top of tracking the books that I read this year. So far, the Book Riot spreadsheet is working for me.

LeahBergen Whoa! Impressive. 👏🏻👏🏻 6y
saresmoore You‘re doing amazingly at tracking! 6y
ErikasMindfulShelf I love the Book Riot spreadsheet!!! 6y

Gillyreads I‘m already behind on tracking 😬 6y
LauraBeth @LeahBergen and @saresmoore the wheels will start to fall off around March 😂 6y
LauraBeth @irre this is the first year I‘ve used it and I really like it! 6y
LauraBeth @Gillyreads it‘s only January - don‘t worry - you‘re not behind on tracking! 6y
DGRachel I love this spreadsheet. I was bored, went back through Goodreads, and filled out one of the spreadsheets for 2018, 2017, and 2016. 2016 was the first year I had good data in Goodreads, but I may do a combo spreadsheet for 2012-2015 with the tiny bit of data I have. 6y
LauraBeth @DGRachel that‘s a great idea to go back and populate with prior years! 6y
DGRachel I found the charts fascinating. I had always thought I read more crime fiction than anything else and was almost anti-SciFi/Fantasy at least before Litsy, but going back to 2016, Sci-Fi/Fantasy represented the largest percentage of books by genre each year! 6y
LauraBeth @DGRachel exactly! It‘s interesting to see what you actually read vs. what you *think* you read. 6y

Trying to organize my shelves and update goodreads. My TBR-own shelf is so inaccurate it was funny. 614 books and I found only 221 physical books in my condo - many review and other books leaving my possession the last 9 years. Now to add all the books I‘ve gotten since and get that number back up.

Booksblanketsandahotbeverage Lots of good ones in there! The Rook, Name of the Wind, The Lightning Thief ❤️ 6y

I just spent WAY more time than I probably should have organizing the books on my kindle paper white! There were so many on there that I had already finished and new ones I hadn‘t downloaded. Since my husband and I are on the same Amazon household account, I also hadn‘t added some of the books he had. It took some time, but I feel so organized now and can‘t wait to dive in! 💪🏻

Kaye Do you download all your books ? I guess I should do that but seem to only download a couple at a time. 6y
kstadt929 @kaye I didn‘t used to, but I did now! I just figured if I downloaded them all I could choose whatever one I want to read, even if I don‘t have WiFi at the time I want to start. We are going to Europe in May for our honeymoon and each bringing our Kindles to read from so I guess my thought was I‘m starting to get it loaded up for that! 6y
Kaye That‘s a good idea. There are times I‘ve only had one downloaded and been someplace without internet and not been thrilled with the book. Then I‘m either stuck reading it anyhow, or not reading at all. I might do the same thing. 6y

By genre, alphabetical by author, then by order of publication.

Catcher in the Rye

Yes!

Maybe audio and print, but not for cover variations.

This is my little system for my #JB correspondece. The grey basket is full of the notes sent to me, the blue baskets hold my blank cards, pens, stamps, etc. and the notebook helps me keep track of all my friends-addresses, likes/dislikes, birthdays. ❤️❤️

Lovesbooks87 Love to see how everyone organizes their jb stuff. I need to get a new bin for my cards. My card buying has been out of control! 🤣🤣 6y
Kaye 💖 6y
MinDea I have those same blue baskets! Target! 6y
SaturnDoo I ❤ seeing all the organizing for the group too @Lovesbooks87 my next step is to get everyone's likes/dislikes etc written down and in my filing thingy for my bag so when I'm shopping I can pick up misc gifts to mail out. Slow process but I am getting there😁 6y
Lovesbooks87 @SaturnDoo that's a really good idea too! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 6y

Alright peeps, this is the BEFORE picture. I have all the double stacked books on the left plus an entire dining room table stacked with books to organize. Maybe I'll post the AFTER in like two years 😒 How do you organize your shelves?

bookishkai I organize by genre, and within genre by subject or favorite books. So, in nonfiction I‘ll have history, and within history there‘ll be presidents, space, etc. the two exceptions are all of my ballet books are shelved together, and all of my GLBT books (fiction and non) have their own bookshelf. 6y
julesG And tons of unopened mail? 😉 6y
rmaclean4 I have 2 bookcases for unread fiction and 1 for nonfiction. My fiction is by author and the nonfiction is by subject. It is rare that I keep a book once I have read it. 6y

gibblr @bookishkris @rmaclean4 There are so many methods!! I'll probably end up reorganizing like 5 times. Last time I shelved them alphabetically by title and the only separate shelf I have is for Uppercase and graphic novels. 6y
gibblr @julesG Do you mean the pouches top left? Those are my monthly subscription Uppercase "boxes" which is basically the same thing as unopened mail because I've only ever read one ? 6y
Reviewsbylola Mine are barely organized. I just know if I try to organize them, it will take forever! 6y
julesG Yep, those white pouches. Well, it's like my FairyLoot boxes, I made myself unpack them only two weeks ago until then they were stacked on the highest shelf, too. 6y
Readingismyescape I have the same issue with Uppercase. Either they just sit unopened or I put them on a shelf just waiting to be read. I should cancel, but... well... book addiction. 😳 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I have separate shelves for read and tbr organized alphabetically by author‘s last name. 📚❤️🙌🏻 6y
gibblr @Readingismyescape I've been telling myself for months that I need to cancel, but I just know if I do cancel that a really awesome box will be the one I miss 🤦🏻‍♀️ 6y
gibblr @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I always worry about the last name thing cuz I'll never remember the author, but I will remember a title. All of that is stupid, however, because it's not like I have thousands of books so it wouldn't be that hard to find. 6y

So I‘m in a few book clubs and trying to figure out how to keep them straight. I bought a some containers and labeled them and then put the stuff for them in until ready to send. The picture on the right I keep my extra goodies and notecards/paper in. I feel better now that I can glance in and see exactly what I have for each. 😊
