⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I listened to the audiobook. Good book. It is sad that this book is needed. 😭😭😭

D. L. Hughley is an amazing narrator (and author) who uses humour to address the racism inflicted upon black people. All of the books I've read so far on racism deal with it in a stark and serious way, whereas How Not to Get Shot uses humour in order to call out some of the ridiculous ways black people are forced to act in order to deal with institutional racism and the gravity of it. A great mix of humour and truth.

Amazing audiobook 🎧

I‘ve compiled a list of books I‘ve read that share the experiences and histories of POC. I thought it may be helpful to anyone looking for books to read to illuminate what‘s currently going on. I have some books on order right now to aid in my own education as well. List 1/2 #blm (nonfiction)

This was a really excellent book. The satire was well done and the point came across strong. This was well written and funny at points, but powerful. It‘s controversially but important to read and I think it‘s definitely a book that deserves more attention.

I'm at 3.5 hours for the #24in48 #readathon so far. That includes finishing up the top right book, which was only a few hours long, a lovely #audiorun in the sunshine 💕 (which is still allowed under shelter-in-place! I didn't touch anything and stayed 6 feet away from people), and now I'm going to settle in with some school reading in the bottom right and hopefully read this whole (little) book today! #stayhome24in48 #shelterinplace @24in48

A brief walk in someone else‘s shoes. Hughley‘s funny but it‘s not funny. I don‘t know what else to say about this book but people should read it.

This book was an excellent and funny way to talk about racism and racist behavior in a white supremacy culture. DL Hughley did an excellent job of highlighting all of the subtle differences that occur based on race.

White peoole should read this book it is an excellent way to start the conversation around race and really looking at it head on

Just finished chapter 11 of this book and...

I bought a Fitbit Inspire HR! Looking forward to joing the fitbit group and doong BFC Session 2.

I enjoyed the audiobook.

Very funny, I laughed out loud many times. Hughley takes tough subjects, police brutality and racism, and uses his razor sharp wit to make the listener laugh but also to think and question their own views on race. 3 💥💥💥 1/2 out of 5

Good satire to go along with a very serious topic. Great on #audiobook

This book exceeded my expectations. I'm so glad I took the time to listen to this book. He definitely did his research and added his brand of satiric comedy to a serious and exhausting topic.

I was already a fan of D.L. Hughley, and while I‘m probably not the intended audience for this book, I really liked it! This satirical take on “good advice” from white people had me chuckling quite a bit, and it gave me more insight into how it is like being a minority in America today.

Really good and timely.
