Finished my first read of the #MarvellousMarch readathon! Ok so I had 2 chapters left but I‘m counting it. It was so good, and there‘s 2 more in the series so I‘ll definitely be checking them out. @Andrew65

Last book read in September, 1st book in a series. I thought this book would be more a mystery but it has more romance than mystery which occurred at the end. After Maggie broke up with her fiancé days before the wedding, she and her sister went to Solace to start over. There, she experienced various murder attempts. Why? Who wants her dead? Second chance romance story. Funny and steamy scenes. Sometimes too cheesy. From okay to so-so 3.4⭐️
She seems like a lovely person, but this book is slightly ridiculous. Characters are simultaneously over the top and all over the place. Some of the dialogue made me laugh out loud when that probably wasn‘t the intent. The audiobook narrators weren‘t great, but I have to give them credit for soldiering through the awkward steamy scenes.
The story itself was promising if not well executed, and I liked the setting and the food.
Once again I was tempted by something from my TBR backlist! Partly because of the annoying way Goodreads randomly switches between her pen name and her actress name. Anyway, it‘s a nice palate cleanser from dark stories, and I should finish it today.
I‘m still “this close” to my goal, but in any case I finished two books during #DashingDecember which was a big help.
Meanwhile, tagged book is...okay. But more on that later!
I‘m not a romantic suspense fan but this was So. Good. I had a super hard time putting it down. While I eventually got the bad guy right, I never saw the motive coming. Meg Tilly is a wonderful human and her writing reflects that. Book two just came out which I will be getting once I‘m home. Not sure where this puts me for #bookfitnesschallenge reading goal but I‘ll check tomorrow.
Meg Tilly was our keynote- not a dry eye in the house. She‘s an amazingly nice and down to earth person. She participate in all our games too.

2.5☆ While I did enjoy reading this book, I also found it hard to read at times. Maggie seemed a prude then she didn't.(sexual) This was a romance while when I read the synopsis I thought it had more suspense/mystery to it (probably less than 100/294 pages). I thought the attempted murder was going to be more prominent. I spent the first half of the book wondering if the synopsis was confused with another book. -ARC for honest review
A fun book to read! http://quirkybookwormalways.blogspot.com/2018/10/solace-island-by-meg-tilly.html
Haven't gotten finished with this like I'd planned this weekend. Maybe I'll stay up late with it?! Also planned on finishing The Witch of Blackbird Pond as well but only about 50 pages in.
Did you end up completing your reading goals this weekend?
This arrived on my door steps! Can't wait! Thank you, #goodreads!

The Grimm Legacy by Polly Shulman
Solace Island by Meg Tilly (ARC Release 11/6/2018)

Thank you! @BerkleyPub for this contemporary romantic suspense ARC. I am excited to see how things play out between Maggie and Luke and her atempted murder.
