The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm
The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm: Tales from Alagasia Volume 1: Eragon | Christopher Paolini
A wanderer and a cursed child. Spells and magic. And dragons, of course. Welcome back to the world of Alagasia. It's been a year since Eragon departed Alagasia in search of the perfect home to train a new generation of Dragon Riders. Now he is struggling with an endless sea of tasks: constructing a vast dragonhold, wrangling with suppliers, guarding dragon eggs and dealing with belligerent Urgals and haughty elves. Then a vision from the Eldunar, unexpected visitors and an exciting Urgal legend offer a much-needed distraction and a new perspective. This volume features three original stories set in Alagasia, interspersed with scenes from Eragon's own unfolding adventure. Included is an excerpt from the memoir of the unforgettable witch and fortune-teller Angela the herbalist, penned by Angela Paolini, the inspiration for the character, herself! Relish the incomparable imagination of Christopher Paolini in this thrilling new collection of stories based in the world of the Inheritance Cycle.

I really enjoyed the urgles tale about the dragon and the tale of Murtagh made me more intrigued to pick up his book when it comes out later this year.

I very much enjoyed my time with this one.

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 65.

We all have a Vêrmund we cannot best. We can fight it all we want, but it still lingers. Revenge bears no fruit, it hurts the people you love just as much as yourself. Acceptance is the next big step. I love these “short stories”, though Christopher is unable to write anything short

Saphira says self care. Reading “The Worm” story again because I think it has a great theme to it. Yes it is long, but there is truth to it.

I really enjoyed the first few stories, but the worm was a little long. All in all a sweet return to this world, but did not quite meet my expectations.

Enjoying this somewhat unexpected return to one of my childhood‘s favorite worlds! Who here loved Eragon?

Bookish_Gal Eragon is my favorite series!!! I loved these three extra stories. 4y

Every one of us knows there is a Vêrmund we cannot best. It is a good lesson to learn, I think.

It is a solid follow up of what happened to Eragon and his friends after the Inheritance cycle took place. I would recommend reading it while the series is still somewhat fresh in your mind, otherwise you might get lost in the names of people and places mentioned in this book. Overall it is a nice and quick read.

My sister and I read the Eragon series together way back when. Now, we are reading the newest book together. Fingers crossed it's decent 🤞

Strive for wisdom! Or at least a decrease in idiocy.

This is interesting but assumes I remember everything about a complex series I haven‘t touched in probably five years (or longer). So I‘m a little confused but following for the most part.

Oh man, I know it's not the book 5 that we all wanted, but it was amazing to be able to return to the world of Alagaësia! Seeing some familiar faces (Murtagh! 😍😍😍) and learning some history of the Urgals was great. I'll just sit here and wait impatiently for more.

This honestly could have been better if Eragon and Saphira were in it more. I understand it's stort stories but it definitely should have had them in it more. Otherwise, I enjoyed it. 😊
