⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My dream self is a writer of middle grade fiction. This is one of the books I wish I had written. Love that it takes place in Minneapolis. So good!! P.S. i‘m sure this has been discussed. But, why is Litsy missing so many book images?

Intriguing MG novel but not sure I'd recommend it far and wide. I started reading it aloud to my kids, but they stopped asking for it. 😴 Sweet story is slow-moving and very introspective. Eventually, becomes a fantasy. Author likes to use lyrical words and play with phrases. Reminds me slightly of Alice in Wonderland but set in Minneapolis #Minnesota Recommended for ages 10+, sisters, or fans of unfolding mysteries. #21readalouds #dw2021 vvv

cozypunk ^^^I'd recommended this for sensitive readers except the finale features a brief kidnapping and resolution with physical violence. Not gory, but it's a unexpected scene that ends an otherwise gentle read. (edited) 3y

Current situation.

In a little less than four weeks, my library district (and employer!) will be hosting our annual staff day and our wonderful Youth Collection Development Librarian (hi Sheri!!) kindly asked if I'd be interested in joining a small group of book talkers for a presentation.

So... here I am 😁
Not pictured, two additional stacks of juvenile and YA materials.

Went on a rainy walk with the tagged audio (I'm having the hardest time telling the difference between the twins but I think I'm getting the important bits of plot? Maybe?) and made very intimate friends with this branch of a half-fallen tree whilst busy making sure I wasn't stomping on any snails 🐌 #audiowalk #bookfitnesschallenge #didnotstomponanysnails #worthit

Clwojick Way to go! This looks like such a peaceful walking trail. 😍 5y

Powerful and sweet. So empowering for girls, and the exquisite loneliness these sisters feel is familiar and true. Terrific!

READ. THIS. I‘m about to attempt a thoughtful review for the blog, but my emotions are compromised. For every girl who‘s ever felt lost, isolated, terrified of failure, or misunderstood, this book was written for you.

Apparently it's physically impossible for me to walk out of the library without checking out a book for myself. I loved Ursu's Breadcrumbs, so when I saw this on the new book shelf, it had to come home with me!

BookNAround I went to high school with Anne. 😁 5y

My TBR Shelf: I‘m making March a read-the-books-I-bought month. I managed to get my library books read and my outstanding holds down to two!

Yeah, Anne Ursu! My gosh, I really GOT Iris sometimes. Trying her hardest to do what‘s best and having her parents rip her and her twin sister apart “for their own good” - the parents, quite frankly, were jerks, even if loving jerks. & her slow ability to get to know other kids & gain two different crews - I liked it. Her frustration and fear, her sadness, her community. Not in love with the very end, but that‘s OK - still v good middle-grade!

Planning to hopefully finish this one tonight for #24in48 and maybe sneak in more short kids books. Hopefully the dogs won‘t be too crazy. Zeus is acting all tired already. Should hit my 24 hours read a bit early #dogsoflitsy

BookNAround Cute pup! And in 6 degrees of separation, I went to high school with Anne Ursu. 😁 5y
Bookgoil @BookNAround cool! I‘ve loved all of her books I‘ve read! 😊 5y

The dogs had me up early so I‘m brewing coffee for #24in48 and warming up from the -10 degrees it is outside. Hoping to settle into reading soon. #readathon

LibrarianRyan That lost girl arc looks fun. It‘s 3 here, so this is a bundled up Readathon for me too. 5y

For this weekend‘s #24in48 #readathon I plan to catch up on my state award books I‘m on a committee for and also hopefully commit to finishing this big book! Also hoping to get to The Lost Girl by Anne Ursu for review. I started Turtles All the Way Down on audio today and hoping to finish that as well.
