Willow Willow, in salute e in malattia.

this book was all over the place but in a good way. you learn about these characters, the reasoning behind their actions, and how others react. i‘ve always loved how picoult writes; you get the power to know what‘s happening all over, and yet you can‘t ever see what‘s coming next. amelia and willow are two powerful sisters; i loved reading about them the most. life is unexpected and crazy, and this book reflects that in the most dramatic of ways.

quote
juleskr02

“Maybe that's what we do to the people we love: take shots in the dark and realize too late we've wounded the people we are trying to protect.”

-Piper, page 252

quote
juleskr02

“You can tell yourself that you would be willing to lose everything you have in order to get something you want. But it's a catch-22: all of those things you're willing to lose are what make you recognizable. Lose them, and you've lost yourself.”

-Charlotte, page 204

blurb
juleskr02

“I had grown up in a family where, if you didn‘t discuss a crisis, it didn‘t exist.”

-Charlotte, page 200

she then proceeds to talk about how she vowed to herself to be different for her own family. i find myself doing the same. i don‘t want to be like my parents, and i think that‘s a common thought amongst people.

“When you love someone, you say their name different. Like it‘s safe inside your mouth.”

Thank you so much Misty and Renee for this awesome package! The address book is adorable and I have a cute idea for the notebook, hopefully it works out, 🤞🏻. I had not heard of this Jodi Picoult book before so I am interested to see how it is.

You two are the best! I am so blessed to be part of this amazing group you have created! Thanks again!

It was very hard to read this and not compare it to “My Sisters Keeper”. It was a bit drawn out at times, and I think the ending was unnecessary. I keep trying different JP books because I do love her style of writing, it‘s interesting seeing all the different perspectives, but another unsatisfying ending.

I have several unread Jodi Picoult books on my shelves. I delay reading because they make my head spin and often hurt my heart. When, like this one, it involves a medically challenged child - even my stomach is queasy. Added to my stomach issues was the sugary recipes between chapters - oh boy, I‘m emotionally exhausted.

Josee.lit.a.lu.et.lira I get what you are saying 😔. My Sister‘s Keeper was heart wrenching. 4y
BookDragonNotWorm She usually makes me cry, but Leaving Time almost destroyed me! 4y
marleed @Josee.a.lu.lit.et.lira @BookDragonNotWorm Ohh noo, Leaving Time is still on my shelves! I‘ll need to rebuild my armor before diving in. 4y
BookDragonNotWorm It's really good - my favorite of hers. I hope you enjoy it when you get to it! 4y

A mother and father have been raising their healthy daughter Amelia and not so healthy Willow, and we learn what life is like for a family with someone who has osteogenesis imperfecta.

This novel primarily follows a lawsuit claiming wrongful birth. If the mom had known Willow would have been born this way, would she have terminated the pregnancy?

I continue to be undecided about how I feel about this ending but overall a powerful story.

Jodi picoult is always an easy gripping read for me, and this book was no different. I flew throught the pages during an 8 hour ferry crossing costing me all of my sleep 😂 but every character chapter makes you think of the situation from their side, every character is likeable and hateable in parts. Its heartbreaking, its something no-one would wish to go through and a book to read!

#QuotsyMay18 • May 6|Glass • Today is also #WishboneDay celebrating Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone disease), so #Glass is a fitting theme for a quote from a great novel about a child with OI. Children with OI are often called “children of glass” because their bones can break with the smallest of contact.

Jodi Picoult books are formulaic, but the subject matter is often interesting enough for me to overlook that and just enjoy the book. This was mostly the case with this one, even though I had a very hard time relating to the main character, and it was predictable enough that even the (unnecessary) ending was not a surprise. Still, I enjoyed it enough to give it a 👍

I was feeling a little restless tonight, so I switched to the #audiobook so I could do a little #coloring to keep my hands busy. It's always so relaxing when I do it that I wonder why I don't do more of it. I'm enjoying the book, but the narrators leave a bit to be desired. Happy Saturday, Littens! 😊

I spent much too long staring at this page, trying to work it out so the math made sense. Is it just me, or is "the tenth" really the 21st? I'm really enjoying this one so far, aside from my #pedantic observation. ?

Another tear jerker from Jodi Picoult... Willow has osteogenesis imperfecta and has never been able to do the things that her sister Amelia does... Amelia is an ice skater and Willow longs to do the same... Lots of emotions and controversial issues with this one!!

In typical Picoult style, "Handle With Care" is current, relevant, and emotionally charged. The story deals with a severely disabled child, how this affects her family, and the "what ifs"... The book is narrated by several characters allowing the reader to be immersed in the issue from different perspectives. At times it was hard to read, yet even harder to put down.

I know some don't care for Jodi Picoult's books, but I've always enjoyed them.

craven I love her books! Her newest one (Small Great Things) felt a bit uncomfortable to read, I think because she was writing about race from a position of privilege. 8y
