Funny satire at mythical gods around the world
Funny satire at mythical gods around the world
Well this book was extremely racist and belittling as fuck about world religions. I found it valuable in that it will remind you that no one deserves to die for their faith or because of it. I myself am agnostic. Except for science. I take that to the bank.
Don't read this book if you are religious. At best you will be pissed. At worst you will have your faith shaken.
If you are seriously interested in mythology, or comparative religions, then skip this book. It's one long joke. The snarky, tongue-in-cheek narrative is funny at first, but it wears out its welcome quickly. I would have panned it, but I admit to laughing a few times. 3 💥💥💥 out of 5
My husband got me this for Yule and I started reading it. Loving it so much!
Half an hour later I cannot take it any more
This book is gold. I read this four-ish years ago, and laughed my ass off: re-reading it now, it‘s still hysterically funny and completely, gloriously irreverent.
Finished this one today. Not a great book, but it was funny and pretty accurate. I like the variety of mythologies represented (African, Chinese, Japanese, and Native American to name a few).
This book - amazing! Humorous retelling of the world's mythologies that will leave you in stitches and wanting more 😊 Cementing my addiction to mythology. #zeusgrantsstupidwishes **And yes, I'm a #bookdragon not a #bookworm 😉

I've been sick with an end of the summer cold so it's been a #toughtuesday and I love reading this humorous take on mythology when I'm not feeling up to a heavy read! I need more of this if anyone has suggestions! #AwesomeAutumnBooks
My little reader is in the process of getting Manga hair!
‪If you love mythology as much as me, this funny book is for you! @bettermyths @TarcherPerigee Link to review in bio!

It started out as really funny, but the humor just got repetitive after a while. Maybe I would have enjoyed this book more if I dipped in and out of it over the course of a couple of months, but after a while it just seemed like the same types of jokes over and over again. Also, the parts I found most enjoyable were the myths that I'm super familiar with. All this said, the last chapter on Scientology was hilarious!
"Narcissus is gorgeous. Like, imagine if someone could look exactly like bacon tastes and you have a pretty good picture of Narcissus (unless you're a vegetarian)."
I read this a few years ago and thinking of it still makes me chuckle. Irreverent, brief, and mostly hilarious. #mythology #aprilbookshowers

This hilarious book was a gift from my wonderful friend @cthonc
#Riotgrams Day 23: #Funnybooks This was a hoot. It's like getting drunk and telling everyone at the bar about myths.
This book is everything you didn't know you needed and more.
Rating: 3/5.
I love mythology! I kind of enjoyed reading this book but I didn't quite enjoy. Contradicting, I know. Probably because I'm used to reading mythology in a serious manner? This book was written for this generation I guess, especially with the language the book was used.
