Baldacci is always a good bet and I really enjoyed listening to this. Melvin Mars is on death row, last mile, for killing his parents… when another man confesses. However, Amos Decker thinks something is off about the confession and, yet, that Mars is still innocent. They both look into the past to find the truth. Trigger-racists.

Worst of March: The Pendergast Books. The last two have just been so disappointing.

#FabulousFebruary #Readathon is off to a slow start. 😪 I set my goal high because of lots of downtime after knee replacement surgery but wasn‘t counting on scrambled brain from my meds. 😵‍💫 I‘ve been able to read about ten pages of Olympus, Texas, and listen to a couple of hours of The Last Mile while getting in my “exercise”. Missy Jo is taking good care of me though!

🎧 interesting audiobook has a male & female narrator. Typical decent Amos Decker story from Baldacci. I‘ve got three more to go. 😁 Decker never forgets and that makes solving a murder just a matter of time. There are adult situations, language & graphic descriptions of ick. The murder mystery spans a couple generations. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

All this extra time on my hands has got me back on the reading wagon. This book is great. Face paced, and exciting.

I loved this book and found out it‘s part of a series which features Amos Decker - due to a freak football injury he has perfect memory, so he is the best detective.
He takes on the case of Melvin Mars, college super football player who is framed for the murder of his parents.
Great characters and plot twists. Like the best Baldacci, can‘t put it down.

This one got me home on the long drive from southern Mississippi to Illinois. This is probably my favorite Baldacci series so far. This is the second, and was just as good as the first. Any Baldacci fans out there? What‘s your favorite series?

I picked up The Last Mile by David Baldacci at a drug store a while back, thinking it would be a good read at a cottage some summer, some light fluff I could take or leave.

It turns out I really enjoyed the book. It has fairly balanced character development, everyone is a feel good character, no giant plot holes, not a lot of friction when reading. Which might be my only criticism, it can feel a little too easy to read at times. Too formulaic.

Anoher of my mom‘s #easylistening audiobooks. This one sees the protagonist better established in his surroundings (abd a cute new bromance), though the case itself is a harebrained sequence of conjectures and guesswork that happen to come true. This is so far off reasonable FBI work (or logic) that i cannot help but ask myself why Baldacci turned away from his usual oedipal superhero towards football fan fic...meh.

I listened to the audiobook of Memory Man and loved Amos Decker as a character, but hated the narration. Looking forward to focusing more on the character and less on the spitty narrator.

A complex plot with lots of details and twists. It really took off just after the halfway point with new details involving the accused‘s parents that I wasn‘t expecting at all, but kept me invested.

Amos Decker is a great character. So entertaining, with his ability to remember every detail about everything, always. Love the characters in here, including the accused Melvin Mars. Looking forward to the next installment. Also, I enjoyed the audio!

Loved this installment in the Amos Decker series.

I really appreciate that this book and its prequel, Memory Man, explore synesthesia, one of my favorite literary devices and an absolutely fascinating psychological condition.

Read this in quick order as I was enjoying it so much! I think this was a much better book than the first book in the series. I liked the opening to the book which hooked me and all the intrigue that went on after it. Quite a complex plot but seemed so simple by the end. I particularly enjoyed the group of characters pulled together for this one. Certainly scope for a longer series. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. 4.5 Stars.

As part of travelling on Sunday and my commute to work book, I have been listening to The Last Mile,book 2 in the Amos Decker series. I read and enjoyed book 1, The Memory Man, but so far enjoying this one more - a very good start to it. Quite a different feel to the first book. Enjoying the narrators.

This story was equally as gripping as the first in the series. I was constantly guessing the "who dun it?" and why?, even when I'd had to put it down. I couldn't get the story out of my mind until I'd turned that last page. I want to know what case Amos Decker is going to take on next and if we'll see anything more from 'Mellow'. Unfortunately the next book isn't out yet, I just hope Mr Baldacci is working on it.

I love a good who-done-it! This book follows Memory Man and revolves around protagonist, Amos Decker. Who doesn't love a big teddy bear type with a sympathetic past and a huge heart?

This is one of my favourite David Baldacci books. It just kept me turning the pages; unputdownable! 🤓

This book is great. I am at 95% and there are still loose ends to be tied up. Baldacci has done it again!

One of our managers is currently listening to the audiobook. She says (and I quote), "I can't wait to hop in my truck every day! It's that good!"

Doing a little mainstream reading. I loved The Memory Man and this is book 2 in that series. Yay!
