This was a delightful read. I very much enjoy Oscar Wilde's plays. He had such a way with words and unabashedly criticizes society but also adds so much humor and irony.

Oscar Wilde always hits the nail on the head with his political and societal commentary
First glass of wine after Dry January, enjoying this wonderful 1990s movie version of Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband. So many good lines but the above is one of my favorites.
My July pick for #12Booksof2021. One can just never go wrong with the wit of Oscar Wilde. This was a delight.
I love Oscar Wilde's witty wordplay ❤ His plays tend to be a fun to read as they are to watch.

Ah! The strength of woman comes from the fact that psychology cannot explain us. Men can be analysed, women merely adored. #oscarwilde #anidealhusband
I sought out this play after it was favourably mentioned in a book about colours—Oscar Wilde was fond of heliotrope and mauve. In my library‘s Hoopla database, I found a full-cast recording by LA Theatre, with Jacqueline Bisset playing Mrs Cheveley. Amusing entertainment: 19th century blackmail shenanigans, lots of witticisms, but not a lot of feminisms.
lord goring: She doesn‘t turn out to be a spy, then?
sir robert chiltern: Oh! spies are of no use nowadays. Their profession is over. The newspapers do their work instead.
lord goring: And thunderingly well they do it.

lord caversham: No woman, plain or pretty, has any common sense at all, sir. Common sense is the privilege of our sex.
lord goring: Quite so. And we men are so self-sacrificing that we never use it, do we, father?
I love Wilde‘s wit. This is less laugh-out-loud funny than The Importance of Being Earnest, but it has (somewhat) more substance: about what truly makes a good marriage, and how real love forgives, and not idealizes. A lighthearted, fun read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Morality is simply the attitude we adopt towards people we personally dislike.
Under the weather today and I don‘t feel like reading, so I‘m watching a classic on tv instead. I love the period costumes/decor in this movie along with the humor. #spookyoctober
Does it count if I laughed so hard I cried? 😂 ~ An Ideal Husband is one of my top favourite books on many levels! ~ September Photo Challenge catch-up ~ #Day8 #MadeMeCry #bookphotochallenge
Listening to some good dramatizations of Oscar Wilde's plays today. An Ideal Husband and A Woman of No Importance were both so entertaining. Love the wit and social commentary, and I'm amazed how much of it still applies today.
"Well, she wore far too much rouge last night, and not quite enough clothes. That is always a sign of despair in a woman."
Society will tell me this is a mispgynist quote. I believe it speaks truth.
This is my test post! This play is proof that #peopleneverchange.
