Abducted (Lizzy Gardner #1)
Abducted (Lizzy Gardner #1) | T.R. Ragan
When Lizzy Gardner was only seventeen, what should have been the perfect night became the perfect nightmare. Kidnapped just blocks from home after a romantic evening with her boyfriend, Jared, she woke up to find herself at the mercy of a depraved serial killer. Imprisoned and tormented for months by the maniac she came to know as Spiderman, Lizzy narrowly escaped, the only one of his victims to survive. But Spiderman escaped too, outwitting police and cursing Lizzy to spend her life looking over her shoulder Fourteen years later, Lizzy is a private investigator who teaches self-defense to teenage girls in her free time. She does what she can to help others protect themselves and to forget the horror of her ordeal, yet fears she will always be known as the one who got away. Then she receives a phone call from Jared, now a special agent for the FBI, with grim news. The killer has resurfaced, this time with a very specific targetLizzy. And hes made it clear that she will not escape him again. So begins a chilling game of cat-and-mouse, a terrifying, heart-pounding hunt that only one will survive.

Been a difficult few weeks for reading due to illness, but finally got this read along book finished. Overall it was very enjoyable, but can see why some might struggle with the central theme of the book. Enjoyed the central characters and look forward to getting to book 2 on 10th October. #TRRagan #LizzieGardnerSeriesRead

LeahBergen I hope you‘re feeling better? ❤️ 3y
Chrissyreadit Hope your feeling better! 3y
EadieB I‘m looking forward to reading book 2. Hope you and your wife are getting your energy back. Sounds like you‘ve been through a tough couple of weeks! 3y

Gissy So glad to see that you are getting better!
❤️❤️❤️🤗
3y
Andrew65 @LeahBergen @Chrissyreadit Thanks, over most of the symptoms, but still incredibly weak and struggle to read for long periods. Was in bed for a total of 12 days and I never go to bed! Some backwards days but can feel myself getting a little stronger each day. Today first time been out of the house in 3 weeks 3 days. But didn‘t get far. 💕 (edited) 3y
Andrew65 @EadieB Been almost four weeks now. On Sunday will be four weeks since first symptoms, definitely had it tough. Got a doctor‘s note for at least another week. Sue still a few days behind me. Provided not exerting myself by doing anything, feel almost human again but get tired very easily. 3y
Andrew65 @Gissy Thanks been a very long journey and lost virtually all September.💕💕💕 (edited) 3y
EadieB @Andrew65 Rest up and don‘t push yourself too hard. When do you have to go back to work? How are the others at your work doing? 3y
Andrew65 @EadieB Say about 1 in 4 had an extended absence period, one young but got asthma, me, and two in late 40s. At moment due back on 11th but depends how I am at this stage. Will most do a phased return when I go back and ask to work from home more. Learnt you cannot push yourself without going backwards. Never ever been like this. Now pondering my future. 3y
EadieB @Andrew65 Glad to hear that you will be able to have a phased return and can do some work from home. Covid is serious as you have found out and going backwards will take a toll on you. Take care of yourself as you need to be there for your wife too! 3y
EvieBee Thinking of you and your wife. I hope you get to feeling stronger each day. 3y
ScientistSam Hope you and your wife get better quickly! 3y
kspenmoll Hope you and your wife are healing & glad to hear you can slowly return to work. 💕 3y
Ruthiella So glad you are slowly getting back to normal! ❤️ 3y
Tove_Reads I enjoyed it, but it lagged quite a bit at times. Wasn‘t moving forward. Could have been edited a bit more. Otherwise enjoyable 3y
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes we‘re thinking closely at long term plans. Possibly considering leaving the job at Easter or during next Summer. By that time will start to be susceptible to catching it again. Also would also give the school time to find a good replacement. COvID just has too many restrictions on allowing me to comfortably do the job the way I need to can access pension early but most probably delay this until 60 if possible for the added benefits, (edited) 3y
Andrew65 @EvieBee thanks, coming along slowly. 3y
Andrew65 @ScientistSam Thanks 😍 3y
Andrew65 @kspenmoll Thanks, that slow return will definitely be needed. 3y
Andrew65 @Ruthiella Thanks 😍 3y
EadieB @Andrew65 Sounds like a good plan! 3y
Andrew65 @EadieB Will need to live off our investments for 3 1/2 years until 60 but hope to add to that possibly by selling second hand books (often been in our plan) or day trading on the stock market, or likely a bit of both. Other possible part time options in education sphere might also come to light. Aim to travel Easter to October in motor home and earn some money from November - March.. These are initial thoughts. Every Little Helps. 3y
EadieB @Andrew65 Great options and I like the travel plans! Working at your our pace will be less stress too! 3y
Andrew65 @EadieB Much less stress, and reduce the chances of bringing the virus back home again. We‘ve done two summers away like this with no problems. Always wanted to play the stock markets more, and trialled this during the Summer Holiday last year to good effect. (edited) 3y
EadieB @Andrew65 My friend's daughter and her husband have been doing day trading with good results too. 3y

Read this for #lizzygardnerseriesread #trragan

Lizzy Gardner was abducted as a teenager, and ended up being the one who got away. The serial killer, who feeds off of his victims fears, is back and he‘s not done with her. This was fast paced and brutal. I‘m not totally sold though, and I can‘t quite put my finger on why. I wanted a little more. (More below.) I‘m going to keep reading the series to see where these characters go from here. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Elizabeth2 Continued: Just when a detail would be exposed, and I was in it for the fallout - the follow up conversation or action, the author would skip over that part. I also felt like the FBI wouldn‘t have been so inept in following some of the clues. But maybe I have too much faith in their abilities? 🤷‍♀️ 3y
Elizabeth2 @EadieB @Andrew65 @DarkMina @eanderson @Bklover @Hestapleton @Tove_Reads Please tag anyone else you know that is reading along. 🙂 3y
EadieB I have reserved feelings about this first book. I was not completely turned on with the writing or the story. Looking forward to reading the next book before making a final decision. 3y

Bklover I would agree with the ineptness of the FBI being a bit overdone. I also thought there were a few too many characters and things going on. But having said that, I actually enjoyed this and I‘m definitely going to read the next one. 3y
Elizabeth2 @Bklover I agree- there were a lot of characters. I was wondering if that was because we will see some of them again in later books. @EadieB same - I‘m curious to see if the next book is better. 3y
EadieB @Elizabeth2 I think the books must get better as I only see praise for her books in the reviews. 3y

EadieB That‘s fine! It is disturbing 😳 if you have daughters! 3y
Butterfinger @EadieB I just recently left my eldest at college. I told her several times, if she is attacked, fight until you die. Don't let them take you alive. If she was home with me, I may have handled it. I was really looking forward to it. Keep me in mind. 3y

Does anyone else hate it when that message pops up? It‘s time to refill my coffee cup anyway.

I‘m just over 50% through this book and I‘m not quite sold. The author has at least twice done a relatively big reveal and then jumped the story ahead a couple of hours, leaving me hanging as to the reaction to the character learning this information and the outcome of the conversation. (Big reveal covered for those reading the book.)

I bought this the other day on a kindle deal and so far I am loving it. But here‘s my question. Am I just old or are there a LOT of characters in this book. I keep having to do that thing where you search for the name to see if it‘s a new character or one I just forgot about. Still, think this will be a good series- just gonna have to start taking notes!

EadieB So begins a chilling game of cat-and-mouse, a terrifying, heart-pounding hunt that only one will survive. This is a dark serial killer book similar to Chris Carter's books. I was not completely impressed with this book but the reviews claim that the books get better and better. That makes me want to read the next book in the series. Gardner has a huge following from her Jessie Cole series so that is good to know. 3y
EadieB I do like the characters of Lizzy and Jared and find them interesting. Let's see how I feel after the 2nd book in the series. 3y

Amazon US has Abducted on kindle for $1.99

Andrew65 Got mine as both a Kindle book and an audiobook. Apologies if I fall a bit behind, just tested positive on an LFT test so will be off for a PCR test tomorrow afternoon. In the morning got an outbreak meeting (virtual - just as well) to discuss outbreak in school. I‘m now 7th member of staff and at least 20 children, expecting more tomorrow. 🙈🤷‍♂️😢 Stupid government couldn‘t organise a ‘drink‘ in a brewery. Totally on them! 3y

kimmiecatj @Suzze I just started my 12th year in Lafayette, LA. I'm a kids' lead. (I'm basically in charge of teens' and large events. I also work the cs desk most weekdays). 7y
Suzze @kimmiecatj When I left, just after Christmas in 2014, I was still getting 40 hours in Juvy. In charge of kids, teen , Juvy bargain and parenting. Also did 3 storytimes a week. Now they get limited Juvy hours and they're down to 1 storytime. 7y

This is a great start to a series. Lizzy Gardner is the only girl who escaped from the serial killer called Spiderman. It's been 14 years and he is still out there. She is now a private investigator who teaches self defense classes. She is spunky, strong, and funny. Lizzy is the kind of chick I look forward to hanging out with for the next 5 books in the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

#FridayFunPhoto I love mysteries-from cozy, to dark & twisty thrillers, to police/FBI procedurals. One of my favorites (underrated in my opinion) is T.R. Ragan's Lizzy Gardner series. 6 books, pretty dark & graphic-so not for the faint of heart-but Lizzy is a kickass PI & the somewhat ragtag team of young women she assembles over the series to work for her are kickass too. Ragan's new 3-part Faith McMann series is good, but I miss Lizzy! 🔍🔫😱👍
