Ahh time to escape after the hangover from A Good Neighborhood.
Ahh time to escape after the hangover from A Good Neighborhood.
I read the first book of Chadwick‘s Eleanor of Aquitaine trilogy, The Summer Queen, last July, so I figured I better continue the seasonally-appropriate trend. This one wasn‘t quite as exciting as the first one as Eleanor spends much of the book pregnant or having just birthed a child and thus isn‘t quite as involved in the political intrigue. I still enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading the third book in the fall.
#Winterwonderland #FireandIce I‘m thinking of The cold of winter & the fire of Eleanor of Aquitaine ♥️💙
This second instalment wasn‘t quite as good as the first if you ask me but still a great read! Medieval setting, cracking writing, lots of interesting characters and it‘s fast paced! I do enjoy getting lost in Eleanor‘s world! 😊
It's taken me MONTHS to finish to this! Partly just because life's been doing its thing, but also, because it's based on fact, the story flows on and on, so I've been dipping in and out like a soap opera, rather than audio page-turning to see what happens next. Still enjoyed it, will definitely be reading part 3, but I might switch to print.
And can anyone tell me what curling one's lip signifies? There is a LOT of lip-curling in this book!
Attempting #31bookpics this month. Let's see if I can make it past day 3! I'm reading Very Slowly at the moment, so some of the books I'm #currentlyreading have been on the go for months. This is going to be the week I actually Finish Books!

Today‘s book haul!!! 😍 #whatbookbuyingban? 😉
I've never been a huge series-reader, but it turns out, when it comes to audio, #thatswhatilike. Spent a full 24 hours debating whether this month's credit should go on Alienor & Henry or Cormoran & Robin. I decided Alienor will be more help with packing and sorting new wifi, so she's on board for the weekend. Pretty sure Cormoran was still living out of boxes from 2 books ago when I left him, so he's probably not the best example! #getmovin
Just finished this second book in the trilogy. 👑👑👑👑👑 I love this long ago world & look forward to reading The Autumn Throne very soon. ❤️
Lovely day here today. I hope to finish this book this evening. I love the time 1150‘s........ all the life at court. ❤️ it‘s magical ✨

#MarchIntoOz #TheHoneymoonIsOver I started this yesterday, and..... the honeymoon is over for Eleanor 😢. I said at the start of this year that historical fiction might be a new genre for me ..... it definitely is. Loving it ❤️
There‘s a lot of reading getting done in this snow ❄️❄️❄️starting this now , looking forward to seeing How Eleanor is getting on .... really loved The Summer Queen ❤️❤️❤️
#fierceFeb #Bachelorette I hope to start this one in early March. Looking forward to catching up with Eleanor ❤️. I think Bachelorette parties were not quite the thing back in Eleanor‘s day. More , marry me , or else... the sword! the red coat was my wedding day coat , I still ❤️it.

Part of the excellent trilogy about Eleanor of Aquitaine - think I have recommended many times -I love it so much.
I read books 1 and 3 and realized this one was number 2 so I went back and read this one just to fill in the 30 year gap. Definitely worth doing and I now feel I thoroughly know Eleanor of Aquitaine. Great writing and incredibly well researched!

Don't really do different books for different seasons - so this is the closest I've got! Using one of these for the second time today!
It's a great series 😀
Loved this one as much as the first one! Chadwick's writing flows so well and it immerses you to the point that you feel you're there at court or in Eleanor's chambers with her. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Starting this today! I loved the previous book in this trilogy, so I'm anxious to see how this one goes. I'm the first person to check it out of my library! 😄😄📚❤
It is DEFINITELY winter here in Illinois. We recommend reading about winter from the warm indoors.
I'm sad to say I'm done and only this far into the book. Unlike all her other books I've read, all the action is taking place somewhere off the pages and each chapter is a very short synopsis of whatever that action was (Henry is home from a battle) and a brief recap of how Eleanor feels about it, which is about the same over and over again. It is so dull I do anything to avoid reading it. No thank you. ☹️
Up next! Hoping I can't put it down.
New haul today from the used book store, all in new condition. Whoohoo! I really enjoy Chadwick's books and it's been a long long time since I got a new one!
