My August #bookspin list😊📚📖 I can‘t believe it‘s already August!! I‘ve missed the book spin challenge a lot, so I‘m excited to be joining in again (although I‘m not ambitious enough to attempt bingo just yet 😂)

An ambitious start to the series with a bit of world-building sprinkled here and there. This had a bit of everything but it also felt like it lacked the depth, though that is common for the first book in a series.
The story felt meandering at times and like it was going too fast towards the end. I am hoping the sequel is an improvement.
I loved the illustrations, though. The art was always evocative and beautiful.
It's nice getting back into reading from a few days break
There is evil and there is just plain stupid. More grown ass men being and acting stupid.
I'm doing some cleaning first but I am looking forward to getting through some chapters today.
Meantime I'm listening to one of my favorite Operas :)

📚 Currently reading:
📕 A Clash of Kings - Reading a chapter a day
📕 The Summer Dragon - A Chapter a day.
📙 Lord of The Necropolis - Reading before bed.
Progress:
I struggled a lot this week, but at least I did finish one book! I'm hoping as always next week is better but we'll see. Woke up with a big headache today so I'm not sure about doing any reading today but tomorrow I'll be back on track.
I'm finding the narrative unnecessarily convoluted because no one actually wants to communicate with one another.
So many of the conflicts will be resolved if characters just listened and talked to each other.

📙All The Horses of Iceland - reading this from time to time
📚 Progress:
I've been focusing on ACoK and TSD this week. Most of the week it's been okay reading, but some days I couldn't really focus well (I've always been bad with it tbh) Next week I hope to do better.
Things have significantly improved. Adults have brain cells, there is no longer any misogyny (I hope it stays that way) Though I wish this was a bit more plot-focused and not character-focused. It's probably my own preference but I find novels that follow a plot are more cohesive than just character-focused ones.
Even if it has a vague plot it just feels more cohesive and feels like there's “a point“ and “characters are moving towards a goal“
Things improved a bit as far as adults growing brain cells and the misogyny, but also I just have a lot of world-building questions again.
If Dragon riding is very important in this world and its economy, why not build dragon saddles that fit the dragon's anatomy instead of mutilating part of their wings every time??
It's a fantasy setting you don't need to put animal cruelty in.
Sometimes the dragons speak and it's the cutest thing.
Sometimes the adult characters in this book are a bit too stupid for my taste and it makes me a bit tired. Like, I'm sorry, no one sees that the creepy guy is a creep and is manipulating the situation??? Does no one see that?? just me??
On another note, the trope of “the kids have it all figured out though, the kids with no experience in this particular subject are experts now.“
It's the little things.
On chapter 23 and I'm finding a lot of these chapters starting to drag, even though they are full of action and moving parts. But also the 'action' and 'moving parts' are becoming very repetitive and the story is slow to progress.
Chapter 8 has gone in a... very concerning direction and it has me a bit worried.
Currently I am three chapters into this. So far the writing style is straightforward and approachable, unlike most fantasy I've read where the language tends to be more flowery and dense. (I'm not saying It's a bad thing)
The first-person narrative always catches me off guard since it isn't typically seen in novels.
I got a 10 this time. I think I will start this after Victober.
My friend @Ruthiella suggested that I do a Top Ten list of my favorite books featuring dragons and I loved that idea so much I decided to start right away! 😂🤣 Here is book #10! I love this book because it's thrilling and exciting and I adore the way the dragons are depicted! There are also beautiful illustrations throughout that really add to the whole ambience of the book! 🐉💕📚

Got a belated birthday package from my cousin today! I love fantasy books! 😍 They are all gorgeous, but the one with dragons on the cover is particulary so! 😃🐉🐲💕📚 #bookmail
Stellar day at Emerald City Comic Con! 🥳 This is just the book/comic haul (it was so hard to stay within budget!). I also bought some other things, got to meet one of my favorite artists, Karen Hallion (who‘s super nice), and had an amazing time people watching. Some of the cosplay costumes were incredible! So much to see & do. Although, I did miss Robin Hobb signing autographs. 😢
My husband and I got a present from Todd and I can't even I'm so excited
Having late night coffee so I can attempt to stay up later reading this Friday night.
I'm also stoked to get to this one by Todd Lockwood. He signed it and sketched me a dragon while I watched! I might buy it for my iPad so I don't have to touch this gorgeous edition lmao!!!
(Don't mind the Funko Pop of BSG's Apollo. Richard Hatch signed it for me and I was all starry-eyed about my autographs that night. Still am...)

I'm so excited to read this book! I've heard good things but only from a handful of people.
Mini book haul. I only intended to buy 1 book today but..clearly that didn't happen.
This has to be the best book I've read in a LOOONG time. There were tears. And now begins the wait for the next book.
About to give this first in a new series a shot. A young dragon keeper gets swept up in politics & battles for power. Adventure, danger, & evil enemies. Love the author's B&W illustrations & maps. "They were feeding the babies when the slaughter began."
