1. Tough one! Louise Penny, Jon Krakauer, Robert Kolker?
2. Uncle Pumblechook, Gradgrind, (Dickens is full of crazy character names), Bean (in Louise Penny's A Rule Against Murder - it's a plot point in the story)

I was bored and should have bailed. I couldn‘t relate to the author or her story. She advises not to clean and organize, but leave your accumulated belongings for your children to sort so they can learn your story. I disagree. I usually don‘t pan someone‘s memoir, but there are so many good books that I could‘ve spent my time reading 😐. 1/5⏳s

I've heard about this book a number of times, but I never knew it takes place in Oakville, where I was born and raised. Once I learned that, I just had to pick it up from the library!

An excellent memoir about a daughter dealing with the emotional stress and physical reality of her parents‘ estate after her mother‘s death. It will resonate more perhaps with those of us in middle age who are dealing with aging parents or grandparents but the family history is very engaging and house proves itself the most interesting character of all. 4.5⭐️

Quite like the truthiness of this passage and also glad to finally understand the nature of this expression. The more you know 🌈

I can't imagine living like Plum did taking care of her elderly parents. Even the family life when everyone was much younger is something I can't wrap my head around.
A must read for individuals dealing with eldercare issues, this memoir is a gem. an intimate look at family dynamics, mother/daughter relationships and life and loss. It's a book that will make you appreciate spending time with family while you still have the chance --even the difficult family members.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"It's the moment every adult child dreads: losing a parent, and gaining a home jam-packed with decades of goods and memories."
