The Boy Who Followed His Father Into Auschwitz
The Boy Who Followed His Father Into Auschwitz | JEREMY. DRONFIELD
Pre-order the inspiring true story of a father and son's fight to stay together and survive the Holocaust, for anyone captivated by The Choice and The Tattooist of Auschwitz. 'An emotionally devastating story of courage - and survival' i Paper 'Extraordinary' Observer _______ Where there is family, there is hope . . . Vienna, 1930s. The Kleinmann family live a simple, ordinary life. Gustav works as a furniture upholsterer while Tini keeps their modest apartment. Their greatest joy is their children: Fritz, Edith, Herta and Kurt. But after the Nazis annex Austria, the Kleinmanns' world rapidly shifts before their eyes. Neighbours turn on them, the business is seized, as the threat to the family becomes ever greater. Gustav and Fritz are among the first to be taken. Nazi police send the pair to Buchenwald in Germany, the beginning of an unimaginable ordeal. Over the months of suffering that follow, there is one constant that keeps them alive: the love between father and son. Then, they discover that Gustav will be transferred to Auschwitz, a certain death sentence, and Fritz is faced with a choice: let his father to die alone, or join him... Based on Gustav's secret diary and meticulous archival research, this book tells the Kleinemanns' story for the first time - a story of love and courage in the face of unparalleled horrors. The Boy Who Followed His Father Into Auschwitz is a reminder of the worst and the best of humanity, of the strength of family ties and the human spirit.

I've read a lot of Holocaust literature & there's not a single survivors' story that doesn't deserve to be told & this one is no exception. What is unique about it is the remarkable relationship between the father & son - juxtaposed against the horrors & brutality of the camps, it shines with the light of love & hope & resilience & righteousness in the midst of so much suffering & loss. Their joy in each other in the face of death is so moving.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ https://suspensebookreviews.home.blog/2021/04/27/the-boy-who-followed-his-father...

A well written true story that was professionally researched. This was a nonfiction history story about a family's experiences during World War II, it follows father and son as they are sent to concentration camps together. Powerful read about strength, love, and survival.

Book Spin Pick: THE BOY WHO FOLLOWED HIS FATHER INTO AUSCHWITZ by JEREMY DRONFIELD - I was really struggling with my last pick, the writing was too formal for me and it centered around a womans loss. Possibly something for another time? I've been wanting to read this one for awhile and love Historical Fiction, happy with this spin.

Day 1 of #12booksof2020 Probably a sleeper hit for me. The book was an emotional roller coaster at times, but was eye opening. Not a 5 star book, but was close.

Andrew65 Sounds a tough but good read. 3y

4⭐️ Excellent book; I really liked how detailed the author was able to get, despite some details being a bit sketchy and some being gruesome. An excellent portrait of a father and son who each survived 3 different concentration camps in Central Europe (each of them notorious in their own way). I would have liked more about Edith and Kurt. #2020 #nonfiction #history #holocaust #ww2 #bookreview #bookstagram

The atrocities of the Holocaust was something that continues to haunt me, especially after visiting a few of the real life sites in a couple of my Europe trips. This book was a tough read, but a good one. I implore everyone, who is looking for a good read relating to the Holocaust to pick this book up.

What a phenomenal book this was! I have read quite a few books on the topic of the Holocaust, but this is by far the absolute best book of it's kind I have ever read. What makes this book even more distinguishable is the fact that it is a True Story, every fact, every event, every chapter all really happened. It's a history book, written in a novel form, and an absolute must read. I feel honour to have read this amazing story.

I'm about halfway through this book, and so far, this must be one of the best Holocaust books I have ever read. It tells the true story of a father and son that survived the Holocaust. The entire book is extremely well researched and every word is based on actual events. An absolute must-read for any Holocaust book fan.

Nute I want to know this story. Stacking! (edited) 5y
Yoricke_SouthAfrica @Nute It is definitely worth reading. Was, by far, the best book I've read in this genre. Let me know what you think once you've read it. 5y
