Wow, darker than usual with Assad's past turning up to torture him. Also, a crazy kid wielding a sword. As usual, all about the characters and how they deal with the events.
Great Series.

One of the best in the Department Q series is on sale. It does help to have read the entire series, a Scandinavian cold case series.
The best of the Department Q series, in my humble opinion, this ebook on sale today
Not an easy book but I need to know what happens so I'm armed with tea and cake for emotional support
#8 in series. Not my favorite. A lot of terrorism and Assad‘s backstory. I would have preferred not to now!
In this book we finally get to know more about Assad‘s past. And this suddenly puts the Department in the middle of the pursuit in stopping a terrorist attack. At the same time a boy calls in to Gordon regularly threatening to kill his parents and everyone he meets on his way once he reaches 2117 in his video game. What a ride.

In this book we finally learn about Assad's backstory. Assad assumes that his family is dead but finds out that may not be true. We are thrown into an international terrorist plot in the hands of Ghaalib. Victim 2,117 unleashes a murderous impulse by Danish teen, Alexander, to kill his parents. I found this book to be the most exciting book of the series but still the length of these books make them a chore to read.
This had me pumped with adrenaline. Two murder sprees were being planned after the 2,117th refugee died in the Mediterranean. This was my favorite of the series. Assad was my favorite character and it was all about him.

Department Q‘s man of mystery, Assad, is a mystery no more. Expect all of your questions to be answered but be prepared, the first 1/8th of the book is very hard reading. While it remains quite dark in its entirety you get relief from the hope that Carl and Assad can yet find a way to tackle this evil. This book could stand alone if you want to jump in the series but it helps to know the characters as well as we do. 5 stars. Excellent writing. ⬇️
#two4tuesday @TheSpineView Thanks for the tag!
1. Yes, challenge-wise. I‘ve done #Litsyatoz the year after it started on Litsy. For 2020 I‘ve added #readingeurope2020, #authoramonth, & group read for #cleopatraalife. Now I‘m also wanting to join the group read #nordicnoir for the tagged book
2. I‘d be thrilled if I meet my challenges, so I‘ll continue on—even though Europe may be pushing the boundaries!
I‘d love to read everyone‘s challenges!

We‘ll finally find out the truth about Assad and his sad background. There is also a death of a character and the returning of another. Rose is back after her crash with reality. Very contemporary subjects in the book. Muslim terrorists, immigrants, a lonely boy whose life is his computer and his games. Assad is trying to save the life of his family he hasn‘t seen for years while he‘s trying to kill his nemesis. Department Q is helping him. ⬇
This time it‘s all about Assad! Really digging deep into his past, finally! This time the book actually has an action-filled beginning as well. #NordicNoir
