If You Give a Moose a Muffin
If You Give a Moose a Muffin | Laura Numeroff
34 posts | 42 read | 2 to read
If a big hungry moose comes to visit, you might give him a muffin to make him feel at home. If you give him a muffin, he'll want some jam to go with it. When he's eaten all your muffins, he'll want to go to the store to get some more muffin mix. In this hilarious sequel to If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, the young host is again run ragged by a surprise guest. Young readers will delight in the comic complications that follow when a little boy entertains a gregarious moose.

1. Man Cub has a stuffed orange moose from IKEA. When I joined different site I stuck my glasses on it and put a book in its hands and made that my profile pic and the name was also born as well.
2. Lately I work while I listen. I have also been known to craft or clean while listening.

These neighbors, man... gotta tell ya!

It's always an exciting morning in the PNW when you're greeted by a moose... lookin' for muffins. We all have our breakfast faves!

Momma and baby were not too far ahead from dad, so hubby and I kept a VERY respectful (and quiet!) distance while we snapped a quick pic 📸

Suet624 I love this. :) 3y
TrishB So cool 😁 3y
Librariana @Suet624 @TrishB - It was definitely an unexpected surprise! My husband and I quietly and patiently stood in the garage, kept a VERY safe distance behind our vehicles, and waited to leave for work until Papa Moose, momma, and baby were all safely away. The size of that bull was pretty staggering even from a distance! Amazing creatures truly. 3y
BookBabe So neat! I enjoy the deer 🦌 around my area, but a moose is much more impressive! 😃 3y

It‘s only 9 am and I‘ve already had the highlight of my day. Coming back home from getting coffee this morning and caught this cute moose nibbling on a tree for his breakfast across the street! I haven‘t seen many moose this winter due to not being out driving around much, so this was a delight.

The_Penniless_Author I've lived in New England for 8 years now and STILL have yet to see a moose in the wild. Basically, what's a typical morning drive for you has become one of my life goals! 🤣 4y
Kimberlone @The_Penniless_Author @TheNeverendingTBR it‘s been snowing a lot recently which helps to bring them out since they have to come down out of the mountains to find food. Moose are my favorite animal and even though it‘s common to see them in AK I still get all giddy when I catch them out! 4y

AmyG Oh wow! Amazing.!!! We get them here especially in the spring. I have yet to see one. 4y
Texreader So lucky! I‘ve always wanted to see a moose in real life. I‘ve been to several places where they should show up, both in the US and Norway, but no luck. Reindeer in Norway yes, but no moose. 4y
The_Penniless_Author @Kimberlone Vermont's population has really gone downhill over the last 20 years, but there are still quite a few in New Hampshire and especially Maine. No matter how often I go hiking, though, no matter how much time I spend in the woods, I just never come across one. Maybe I need to finally book that Alaska trip I've always wanted to take (post-COVID, of course 😉). 4y
suvata Wow! It‘s pretty amazing. 4y

If You Give A Moose A Muffin, by Laura Numeroff, is a MF book about when a moose walks by, and might possibly want a muffin. If he wants a muffin, he might want jam to go with it, and when he finishes the muffins, he‘ll want more, so you go to the store... will it ever end? Beware of a moose who wants a muffin, he might just stay a while! #ucflae3414su20

CameoD UDL principle 3.3 aligns with this book because you can help students understand and process information by asking questions, and creating patterns out loud. This ensures their understanding of the text. Esol strategy 9 might be useful with this book. As a class, you could make a time line, or diagram of the book as it plays out. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/143481938104664863/ is a diagram tool so students can visualize information. 4y
Emmaturtle3 Woohoo a Laura Numeroff book I did my authors study on her! This book is for sure a great RA or S that students will truly love! I liked your resource that can help with visualization!! 4y
JessicaO Hi, Cameo! I loved your description for this book and it seems like you really like the series because you did another one earlier in your posts!! I have fallen in love with this series over the years and I will be getting the whole collection for my classroom library! Your UDL and ESOL strategies are great because students might need that extra time to process what is actually going on in the book! Thank you for sharing :) 4y
DrSpalding Before you go to Pinterest, seek out the author website or publisher website first. They should be the first place you go! This author has many valuable books in the series and going straight to the website will provide more information! 4y

I had a special visitor at my front door last night!!🤗 Alas, I was all out of muffins, not that my hubby would let me feed it anyways☺ it did remind me of the, If You Give -__, books though and I used to love reading those to my son. He's 22 now, do you think he'd like a storytime call?😂

squirrelbrain Wow! Bit scary though, he‘s enormous! 5y
Maude @squirrelbrain , Yes, they are beautiful and scary huge!! We see them on the roads all the time but I've never been this close to one. That's why I didn't turn the light on, I was afraid to spook him because it could easily kick in the door 😲 5y
Kimberlone I love moose! They are my favorite animal. Wish there was a moose emoji :( 5y

This funny F spinoff from Laura Numeroff‘s “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”, is the hilarious journey from giving a Moose a Muffin! If you give him what he had asked for, he just continues asking for emote! See what all he asks for when you read the book. This would be a great RA or a S to use in the class. This lesson talks about use of compound words that can be found in the story. EL strategy 20(list the most important words and phrases on board

Bshelton27 And UDL strategy 6.4( enhancing capacity for monitoring progress)would both be effective if activity is done in smaller groups. https://www.brighthubeducation.com/lesson-plans-grades-1-2/101984-if-you-give-a-... #ucflae3414su19 5y
DMoux Love the vocabulary activities on the link you shared! Writing the vocab words on the board will be a great help for students to recognize throughout reading the story if they get stuck! Would definitely be great for a story telling with the use of some props or a small group read aloud. 5y
DrSpalding Yes read aloud or storytelling and Yum Yum Yum to the muffins! Your creative images are appreciated 5y

Anyone else go through a major reading failure after having a kid? He‘s 5 months old. I thought by now I‘d be back to reading more than just books with him but I‘m struggling to eke out the time for it still. Please tell me it gets better 😢

Traditional literature ,1991. A great book for all kinds of children. This book is just like if you give a mouse a cookie. The story starts with if you give a moose a muffin, he'll want to go with and so and so forth. The boy and moose do all of these crazy things to entertain the moose. One thing always leads to other and it all goes back if you give him jam, then he's going to want a muffin with it.

If You Give a Moose a Muffin is a fiction book written by Laura Joffe Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond. It was published in 1991. This is a cute book that sparks imagination for children. The characters include a moose, a young boy, and his mother. The setting takes place in the house of the humans. The boy gives the mouse multiple things to see how he reacts. I like this book for young children I think it is a fun read.

I really like the idea of a child interacting with an animal as big as a moose in this book. I think kids think the idea is fun and silly which entertains children

They say you can't judge a book by its cover but I did with this book. The story turned out to be great too! http://www.wheelndealmama.com/if-you-give-a-moose-a-muffin-lesson-plans/ #UCFLAE3414

DrSpalding If you checked this out from the CMC, they tend to remove book jackets. This is one of Numeroff's many circle stories that began with If You Give a Mouse a Cookie! Children love these books. 8y
katelynn_lawson I think the cover is super sweet and simple. This caught my eye more than a book jacket would. 8y
