I think I agree with @Patchshank and @Maggie4483 on this one. It was an engrossing book and you really become attached to the Ciaglia‘s in their journey, but so much of the book relies on the shock value of the serial killers‘ letters that I don‘t know if I could recommend this to someone without copious trigger warnings. It kind of felt like Pete Earley would have just used the letters and dumped everything else if Tony let him. #lmpbc #truecrime

Maggie4483 I love your new username!!! 💫 2y
wisherwishinguponastar @Maggie4483 Thanks! I decided to go for a more positive vibe! There is no way I was planning a Disney World trip at the same time. 2y

AkashaVampie Totally agree. Mental abuse sucks! Sometimes I wish I was beat cuz the pain would be over quicker 2y
ElizaMarie @AkashaVampie I am so sorry that you are struggling. It's so rough. I get what you are saying about that mental vs physical illness. I know it's so much easier to get empathy and understanding from your peers when it's a physical situation rather than a mental/emotional one. Know that there are people there in your corner. 2y

Not too sure how good of a bedtime story this is going to make but Peeta and I are settling down and diving into this one tonight. 😼😬

HeathHof Hey groups. Just a heads up that I changed my handle. 🤓 @Maggie4483 @DanaManiac @Kdgordon88 @Patchshank @booksellerofyourdiscontent 2y
wisherwishinguponastar I hope you enjoy! I can understand the hesitation. I have scared myself out of sleep with true crime before. 2y
HeathHof @booksellerofyourdiscontent this is interesting so far, but did give me a nightmare on day one. 2y
Patchshank Yeah. First time I read it I had nightmares. I was also binge listening to MFM. I had to step away from true crime for a bit. 2y

Both my #LMPBC and #RecipeSwap are in the mail and should be delivered Friday. I wanted to keep this a surprise, but since I‘m bad at time management, I‘ll spill the beans now: they‘re going to the same place, @Mynameisacolour .
I just emailed you tracking info. Sorry for cutting it so close!

HeathHof 🤣🤣 Oh yay! I'll keep my eye out and let you know when it gets here. 3y
Maggie4483 This tweet made me laugh, and I thought it appropriate for the cooking and true crime themes. 🤭 3y

Feeling so overwhelmed with work, etc. As a result, I‘m a little behind on getting my #LMPBC out. I‘m reading every free moment I get, though, and will get it out to you ASAP. @Mynameisacolour - I‘ll let you know the moment it‘s shipped. I‘m so sorry!

HeathHof Girl, I totally feel you. No worries! 3y

I just finished my #LMPBC. I didn't really get from it what I wanted I guess. I don't want to go into too much detail and spoil it for the rest of the group.
It is still an interesting book though. Reading what serial killers has to say about their crimes, themselves, and whatever else. It did get extremely hard to read at times. It would get extremely graphic. But it was interesting glimpsing into their minds at times.

Patchshank @Maggie4483 I will mail it tomorrow and email you the tracking number. 3y
HeathHof That's a bummer but I'm still looking forward to it. I need to get cracking on Helter Skelter soon. 3y

LoverOfLearning Oh wow, I haven't seen this book before. Going on my TBR. This is actually what I studied in my master's so it definitely right up my alley. 3y
Patchshank @LoverOfLearning There's also a podcast called murderphone. They've only done one season. I dont know if they plan to do more. I haven't listened to it yet, but it might be worth checking out. 3y

HeathHof Whoa, that's an awesome true crime stack you have! I haven't read any of these and they all sound good. My top two would probably be The Serial Killer Whisperer or Serial Killers. 3y
wisherwishinguponastar I agree with @Mynameisacolour those both sound good! 3y
Maggie4483 Agreed - The Serial Killer Whisperer and Serial Killers are my top two here. 3y
Patchshank @Mynameisacolour @booksellerofyourdiscontent @Maggie4483 I'll break the tie with The Serial Killer Whisperer. I've had it longer than serial killers. 3y

Between this book and binge listening to My Favorite Murder I ended up having nightmares. I still haven't finished the book. But I will. I've found it interesting. I'm not a huge true crime fan, but I still have bit of an interest.

It's about a guy who got into and accident that caused him severe brain damage that completely altered his personality. To cope with it he writes to serial killers in prison. I'm only about half way through the book.

RaimeyGallant Sounds interesting. 6y

“I‘m not really a bad person. I like to think of myself as a misunderstood person who just happened to make a lot of bad decisions. But those other good law abiding citizens out there don‘t see me like that. It‘s just a damn shame... but that‘s society for you. You kill and eat a couple of people and they never let you forget it. Wow wow wow. I‘ve always been fascinated with true crime but this guy takes it to the next level. After receiving a traumatic brain injury when he was 15, Tony finds companionship in writing to serial killers. Very graphic but a very honest look into the minds of some of America‘s most notorious killers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have been into true crime and the psychology behind serial killings for as long as I can remember. Until this book, I did not know that there was a line for how much I could handle, but this book definitely crossed a line for me. It repeatedly went into the graphic details of cannibalism that made me sick to my stomach. I really don't know why I didn't bail. I thought the end would be more enlightening than it was.

Wow! Pete Earley takes you into the world of Tony Ciaglia, who has an unusual pastime; he corresponds with serial killers. This was an incredible book; probably one of the best non-fiction books I've read in a while.

❤❤This book was very interesting and I recommend it to anyone who likes true crime. It is a non-fiction book about a man who corresponds with serial killers, so it could be quite gruesome and hard to read at times, but overall it was a great book.❤❤
