Fallible men write books. God writes in sunlight and rivers and planets. Isn't the universe a good book? I trust it above the printed kind.
Men write Bibles. God doesn't. God writes stars and worlds and seasons and Hudson Rivers and beautiful women. Creation is the good book.
pickA pick if for nothing else than the atmospheric drawings evoking the foggy Hudson and the enigmatic tension of the story. The plot concerns Captain Twain who rescues a mermaid and, the mysterious behavior of the two brothers who own the ship. Not gonna lie though, I don‘t really understand the ending at all 🤷🏻♀️
OK, as a matter of fact I *am* in the middle of a couple of other books right now but I saw this “Like New” copy of a book that‘s on my TBR list at the FOTL bookstore today and; for $2 decided it was a sign from the Book Gods!
A GN w/B&W pencil/charcoal work, the panels evoke a foggy riverfront past. The story features a 19th c steamboat captain who finds a mermaid. There‘s also a bit of mystery. It‘s all enigmatic but also very intriguing!
pickFirst Second is one of my favorite publishers and this book did not disappoint. The graphics are in black and white but have so much depth and life in them. Sailor Twain has steamboats, mermaids, mystery and romance and is so much fun. Go check it out!

so-soI chose so-so because I would recommend borrowing this book instead of buying it. The ending is open for interpretation, but the rest of it provides an interesting ride. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
