Still reading Fear In the Sunlight, listening to Cold Mourning. A good week- I have been on spring break all week, giving me plenty of reading time.
pickA short, but powerful book of poems about George Floyd, Obama and Colin Kaepernick and detailing the black experience in America today. Maya and I listened to it over her lunch break. We will definitely listen to it again.

pickI rarely read poetry, but this 1000 word rhythmic book might change my mind. Three poems are written about Floyd, Kaepernick, and Obama. Not a lot of words, but Alexander strung them together to make a large impact.
pickKwame Alexander wrote short, rhythmic poems about three major Black experiences: the killing of George Floyd, Colin Kaepernick taking a knee for the national anthem, and the election of Barack Obama. The #audiobook is brief but moving, and there‘s definitely a lot to be gained by listening! (In fact, I may try to do poetry more often on audio in general.)

pickI need beauty right now, but I need beauty that isn‘t blind to the realities of the world we live in. This poem in book form is that beauty.
pickI adore Kwame Alexander, especially how accessible his writing is for young readers. And I‘m not a huge poetry reader, but I had to read this. It‘s written/marketed for adults but think teens would enjoy it... it consists of 3 poems presented in a visual way. The 1st is a response to George Floyd & police murders of black people, the 2nd is responding to athletes taking a knee and the 3rd is response to Obama‘s victory in ‘08. Very powerful
