One Charmed Christmas | Sheila Roberts
12 posts | 7 read | 4 to read
An enchanting new Christmas novel from USA TODAY bestselling author Sheila Roberts, brimming with hope, love and humor. Catherine Pine is hoping her Christmas is a bit more jolly than last years. That one was her first without her husband, and with her kids and their families absent this year, shes worried. But things change when her good friend invites her on a Christmas cruise to lift her spirits. Suddenly every day is an adventure and shes making a bunch of new friends, including the lovable Sophie Miles. Its like a gift from Santa when Sophie and Catherine meet the charming Dr. Rudy Nichols, a perfect match for hypochondriac Sophie. But he comes with a two-legged lump of coal, his guard-dog daughter. And then theres chocolatier Trevor March, whos also interested in the scrumptious Sophie. Can he convince her that chocolate is the perfect cure for what ails her? Who knows what Santa has in store for these holiday travelers? Anything could happen this charmed Christmas!

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

This was not my favorite holiday read and while it was cute at times, a large part of it was a major downer! Oh well… onto the next Christmas book!

KadaGul @Kshakal I put this on TBR pile but I guess i can push this to the bottom of the pile. #TBR 12mo
Kshakal @KadaGul it definitely wasn‘t the fun Christmas read I wanted! 12mo

TheAromaofBooks My post office lady pretended like she was going to lock me out of the lobby when she saw me coming this last time... I had like 10 books to mail 😂 3y

@Jadams1776 I cleared the board!! Thanks so much for hosting this fun bingo.

PS for some reason the numbers on the prompt explanations didn't match their squares so that is why things are scribbled out at the bottom haha

I finished 3 books yesterday, so there will be a small review/post binge lol

This one was definitely on the soft side of pick, mostly because it was kind of a downer in many ways. Several people meet on a holiday cruise, so the story is about a pair of sisters, a pair of brothers, a father/daughter, and two best friends. I enjoyed the wider age range than these stories usually have, but it felt like each person was wrestling with something ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) rather serious, which I suppose is somewhat realistic, but did push the boundaries of “feel-good holiday read“ lol I also was confused - one of the big plot points of this story was how the adult children of one of the older characters had decided to do other stuff for Christmas instead of spending it with their mom... but literally everyone acted like that meant that there were zero other options. Maybe it's because I have a lot of ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) family, but we've never been hung up on doing everything ON Christmas day, and I was just so confused why no one was like “so we'll open presents with you when we get back from our trip“ or “how about dinner before we go?“ instead they acted like the only choice was to take her gifts and open them on Christmas day without her and it just felt weird. This same older character spent a lot of time berating herself because the Christmas ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) before had been her first one as a widow and she had been so depressed and crying all the time and she “knows“ that's why her children don't want to get together this year, and instead of concluding “so my children are obnoxious and self-centered and I have every right to grieve“ she's pretty much like “and they're right, I was a total downer“ UGH

The other absolutely unbelievable storyline was that one of the younger characters ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) is an absolute hypochondriac and has decided that she “needs“ to marry a doctor, so when she meets one on board she decides to go for him, even though he's like 30 years older than her. Okay, I guess... except this other dude is way into her and he's her age, good-looking, sweet, funny, kind, generous, rich, and freaking OWNS HIS OWN CHOCOLATE COMPANY and I'm supposed to believe that she's willing to blow him off and keep chasing the ⬇ (edited) 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) elderly doctor?!?! It would have been a smidge more believable if chocolate man had had ONE flaw instead of being literal perfection.

ANYWAY as usual I'm getting all rambly and ranty when I was overall okay with this book. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. I think it would have been a little more enjoyable if not every character was having a bad life, but that's just me.

A sweet story about finding love during a cruise in and around Germany. “Don‘t cry because it‘s over, smile because it happened.”

I finished this on audio last night. It was a nice Christmas read- picture a Hallmark movie set on a Christmas cruise in Europe. The only thing that distracted me was it was written as if Covid was a blip that happened earlier this year and we all just needed to wash our hands. I don‘t blame the author since who knew things would get this bad, but it took me out of the story. Otherwise it was sweet and cozy and made me want to drink mulled wine.

Do not start this one expecting it to be similar to last year‘s #Christmas From The Heart. In this story, eight people go on a holiday cruise and befriend one another while on the trip. They all had Big Life Things going on outside of the trip so it was great to see that they could rely on one another when it was over. I especially liked the end, which pulled the entire story together and was the most Christmas-y part🎄

Finished this book today before taking a nap! It was a fun holiday read. A group of people taking a river cruise and seeing some wonderful sites and Christmas markets across Germany end up becoming friends, and sometimes more. There are ups and downs but it's overall a special trip everyone is taking for different reasons. I loved all the characters and how everything ended.

Bookwormjillk This looks perfect. I just ordered the audiobook. 4y
TheAromaofBooks I'm already compiling next year's #WinterGames list & this one looks perfect!! 4y
tracey38 @Bookwormjillk oh, I hope the audio is good! It has a lot of characters! Enjoy 😊❤ 4y

It has been a low-key #Thanksgiving at my house today since the five of us stayed home. I loved this Thanksgiving more than any other, ever. I loved being with my family, just us. I realize so many are missing family and friends this year, I really do. Still, I am thankful for so much, including you guys, my Litsy friends!!

I‘m halfway thru this book and the dog is keeping my legs warm!! I love Sheila Roberts‘ stories.
