@LitsyEvents I‘m a returning Litsy user and often think of a swap/bookclub I was part of because it was so fun. The tagged book is the one I used for that swap. We were split into groups of 4 or so, each person chose a book from our own shelf, wrote our thoughts in the margins and sent it to the next person. By the end, each of us got to read our own book and all of those chosen by the other group members. I‘d love to do that again.

This book was so sweet and funny! I read it for my irl #bookclub and we all enjoyed it and had a lot to discuss! The characters are so relatable as they navigate the next step for their family's bookstore after the co-owner dies. The relationships were a big focus, especially tackling platonic vs romantic love. Overall a heartwarming novel with some great book recommendations sprinkled in ☺️

To be honest, I kind of expected the cliché Small-Town-Bookstore-Needs-To-Be-Saved-Storyline but was surprised by the interesting characters and a story-arc wider than expected.

Enjoying the last few chapters of this #LMPBC read on the front porch while watching for hummingbirds. This has been fun. Sending off to @smalldogs_bigbooks2419 soon.

I love days where my only real goal is to finish a book. I loved a lot of the characters in this story, but found it a little predictable. Looking forward to reading Women Talking next, for #litsymarkuppostalbookclub# @BookishPiper @lynneamch @shellleigh33

@shellleigh33 @lynneamch @BookishPiper Hi everyone! I hope you‘re all enjoying the books we‘ve each started with for this round of #LMPBC. Just wanted to check in before the end of the month because I don‘t remember exchanging information about which order we‘re swapping in or where each of us is sending books. That information came in an email from @suvata in the other 2 rounds of #LMPBC that I‘ve been a part of.

I enjoyed this book, but the title is misleading. It‘s about a bookshop and the family dynamics of the people who own it and are fighting to keep it open. It‘s a story of self-discovery and learning what you really want from life. Great characters, even the dead one who speaks in first person! Also book recommendations for people who aren‘t avid readers. Definitely worth the time.

“We book people can be awful, prickish snobs. Why is a yummy romance any less worthy of a reader‘s love than the latest New York literary sweetheart? I say if a certain type of book isn‘t your preferred cocktail, darling, simply put down the glass and order something new. You don‘t have to act as if you‘ve been poisoned.” I love it! And I love that Litsy has room for all of us, no matter what books we love—or don‘t 😄

There are so many unread books on my Kindle, but this is the one calling for me tonight.

Full disclosure I will buy/read any book with book, bookshop, book club, reading, reading list in the title and I‘m not often disappointed
This is a lovely story about love, book sellers, finding/following your path and that ‘book haters‘ just haven‘t found the right book for them yet.
It comes with some really good book suggestions too

I obviously got this at Costco and I bought it solely on J. Ryan Stradal‘s blurb on the cover “ This is the feel-good book of the year”

This was a light not to stressful book. I gave it a so-so rating as I think some of the story could have been left out.

I was expecting this would be about a book club or reading or such. It‘s more of a family drama thing- and they happen to own a book store. Found it hard to engage with - altho I will admit I was in a book rut when I tried this one on… not gonna say it‘s bad- but I didn‘t finish.

Definitely not a club any of us would join, but the bright books on the cover caught my attention and the story sounds cute. Bonus: It contains actual book suggestions!

Gretchen is at it again with this lighthearted novel filled with twists and turns about clashing family perspectives and a loving community ready to fight for the survival of a beloved independent bookstore. There‘s gossip, snooping, humor, and a lot of actual book recommendations! Plus how can I not love that some of it takes place in Oakland?!

10-18-22: My 104th finished book of 2022! Over the Rainbow is a quaint bookstore about to go out of business. Owner, Irma, the quirky mom of grown daughters-Bree and Laney, is selling to a greedy corporation now that her book selling partner, Elliot, has passed away. Can the girls and Elliot‘s partner, Thom, figure out a way to keep the bookstore before the closing sale? Sweet and light hearted story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣1️⃣0️⃣4️⃣

I can‘t say I loved this book — too many grown ass women (38) acting like 14 year olds. I also didn‘t care for the “commercial interludes;” the back story could have been told in a better way. I liked it enough to finish it, so there‘s that. I‘m in Meridian, MS, for a conference. It‘s my first in-person conference since COVID and likely my last since I‘m retiring in June. #audiowalk

The big reveal as to why Erma was selling the bookstore happened about half way in. It was so obvious. Now we have to learn if the store can be saved. Wonderful breeze today. #audiowalk

A death in the family. A bookshop that is supposed to close within 6 weeks and be sold to the lowest(!) bidder. Two sisters and a grieving spouse to save the business and themselves.

A story of grief, love, family, home, and lots of brilliant book recommendations.

You will love the quirky characters. They were delightful and also pretty much a mess.

Lots of surprises hidden inside and characters that are keeping secrets.

At some point you will be asking yourself where this book is going, and you will find it goes many places and is quite clever. 4/5
