As immensely entertaining as Act I, this installment of Neil Gaiman‘s ‘The Sandman‘ has more “short stories” than Act I (in keeping with its comic/graphic novel brethren). James McAlvoy still shines as Morpheus/Dream. Kat Dennings delights as his sister, Death. The casting is superb, and I could listen to Gaiman narrate a telephone directory.

Dream has handed Hell over to its new owner who seemingly makes the torture worse than Lucifer, himself, could propagate. Dream frees its ancient love, Nada, from the demons of Hell and grants her new life in a baby born into the modern world. Even the twists have turns in a Gaiman story.

Hell is closed. Lucifer has quit. Dream is bequeathed the Key to Hell making him the sole owner of the empty land. And everyone wants a piece.

So good. Gaiman is a genius.

Disappointing. Lots of great narrators.

Yet, there were episodes that had little to do with the overall narrative, but were still necessary, which made the whole audioplay drag on unnecessarily.

IndoorDame I‘m so intrigued by the idea of this as audio only, and my interest is even more piqued because the reviews I‘ve seen are all over the place. I think I‘m too attached to the artwork to actually try it out myself, but I love seeing what others think 2y

Bk2 of September is done. I managed to finish a beanie while #audioknitting to two books! Only problem,in trying to make sure it was big enough for the hubs, I made it a bit too big🤭Whoops. The 2nd Sandman full cast audiobook wasn‘t as great as the 1st,not enough Morpheus & stories with unsatisfying endings. But still an enjoyable listen, especially with John Lithgow & Bill Nighy voicing characters.👍 #BookspinBingo #SeriesRead2022 #LitsyCrafters

Yes. Bk1 of September is done🙌This was actually The Sandman Act I but it‘s not in the database, I don‘t know why. This audiobook was fantastic! A full cast recording that comprises Vol 1,2 & 3 plus a few extra tales, it stars James McEvoy as Morpheus, Michael Sheen as Lucifer & Neil Gaiman himself as narrator. I highly highly recommend a listen🎧 The #audioknitting project is the chunky slouch beanie for the hubby. #LitsyCrafters #BookspinBingo
