I don't know that I have ever read such a beautiful written book. The writing was descriptive, effective and heartfelt. The characters were flawed, but well developed. Part love story, part mystery. Probably will be the best book I read all year.

I read the kindle unlimited ebook with audiobook included. I like being able to jump between reading and listening as my activities allow. This story has some inventive elements and I enjoyed the cast of characters, the letters, the flashbacks (1941) and the current day (set in 1984).
Haven't gotten to this one yet, but letting the frogs at the Gulf Shores library take a look at it today.
Love and Lies!! A sad love story that‘s made from lies. How a couple was betrayed to have the life they deserved.

Felt this! 💔
Some lines I felt deserving of highlighting while reading this book. 😊
What a story! Ashlyn can feel the feelings of a book‘s previous owner. And when she finds two books that seem to be telling two sides of the same story, both with strong feelings of blame to the other…she knows the books won‘t have a happy ending, but what she ends up learning is so much more.
"Books are feelings," he replied simply.
"They exist to make us feel. To connect us to what's inside, sometimes to things we don't even know are there. It only makes sense that some of what we feel when we're reading would ... rub off." Ashlyn has a gift called psychometry, an ability to discover facts about an event or person by touching inanimate objects associated with them; for her it‘s old books.

Hubby gifted me this book for Christmas, along with Mick Herron's "The Secret Hours" (we're both huge Herron fans), & graphic novel "Harlem's Hellfighters" by Max Brooks (also fans of). Giving "The Echo of Old Books" a try, I'm not a romance reader which this sounds like but I do love a good mystery.
Flying through this book enjoying it so much
Loved this book.
I voted in the final round of the Goodreads Choice Awards and this is what I picked for the Historical Fiction category. I didn‘t read any of the other books that were nominated. I read this book but I DNF‘d it because I didn‘t like it. I didn‘t want to vote for this book but I didn‘t want to vote for books I haven‘t read so I didn‘t have a choice but to vote for this book.

I‘m sharing my progress for this book I‘m reading. This book is moving slow, I‘m finding it boring, kind of depressing and I‘m not making as much progress as I want to make on this book because of it but at the same time, it‘s interesting and I want to see if it gets better so I‘ll keep reading until I get to 60%. If it doesn‘t get better then I‘ll DNF. There‘s also supposed to be a love story in here but I don‘t see it.
I decided to start this book after I finished reading Stardust. I‘m borrowing it from Kindle Unlimited. I‘ve listened to the first two chapters. This book is interesting but it seems like it‘s starting off slow. I don‘t know if I‘m going to like it or not but I hope it gets better because the idea of a book within a book sounds interesting to me.
I couldn't put it down!!! Found another favorite author 😁
I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

Do yourself a favor and read this!!! Ashlyn, the MC can feel the “echoes” from books. As she comes across two separate books with intertwined love stories and unknown authors, she can‘t help but start digging to find the characters true identities.
Real life, love, loss, anger, and hope. A reminder that things can change in an instant with a glimpse into life in the 40‘s & 80‘s. 💯💯Barbara Davis is definitely on the top of my to read list now.
I wanted to love this but I kept forcing myself to continue. I read other reviews about how it gets better and bam, about 2/3 of the way through, I suddenly couldn‘t put it down.
Review is up! Check it out!

This was a fascinating read: a dual timeline, book-within-a-book that explores love, betrayal, and the power of forgiveness and letting go. Many life lessons told in this well written story. Set in the 1980s, a young bookseller comes across two anonymous books that narrate the same events from different viewpoints. In tracking down who these authors were, she also learns a lot about herself. I‘m becoming a big fan of this author. 4 ⭐️

Dual timelines. Ashlyn restores old books. She can also pick up feelings of other people from inanimate objects. She finds two unpublished books that seem to tell a doomed love story from the POV of the two people involved.
Liked the past love story more than the contemporary story about Ashlyn.
Ashlyn discovers two unpublished books that seem to tell the same doomed love story but from vastly different viewpoints. Her psychometric abilities tell her there is more to these two lovers' stories than what is written. She embarks on a quest to figure out the truth. This gets 2.5- 3 🌟 from me. I enjoyed one timeline over the other. Also, there was no chemistry between Ashlyn and her love interest.
I have so many unread books on my Kindle , and plenty in my bookshelf, that it‘s hard to choose what to read next. I am in awe of Littens who plan their reading. I just follow my whimsy, and it‘s leading me to this. I‘ve loved the other books by this author that I‘ve read, so I‘m looking forward to it.
Oh my, how I loved this story! First off, a bookstore owner who can sense emotions and feelings by touching previously owned books? Yes please! Add in secrets, lies, and romance from the past and a mystery to be solved and I‘m all in. I listened to the audiobook and can highly recommend it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
