Great use of tropes in this book: grumpy vs. sunshine, enemies to lovers, and workplace romance, which are some of my favorites. I loved the competition that they had with one another as they try to save the hotel. So many fun misunderstandings, comedies of errors, and missed opportunities making for a slow burn and well developed relationship between the two. A sweet romcom that readers will enjoy!

I loved The Switch and The No-Show and at first I didn‘t think I was going to enjoy this story. It‘s about two bickering coworkers at a hotel that is on its last legs, and as it went on I grew to like it. I especially liked the quirky hotel setting and the efforts everyone was making to keep it going. O‘Leary writes light fiction that always has a little bit of seriousness added in, and this was the same.

A little light for a Beth O‘Leary - in a good way. Fun, charming, and light with a cast of sweet characters

I‘m glad this book had a satisfying (if abrupt) end because the middle was a little one-note. Overall I liked but didn‘t love it. I liked the setting of the old, family-run hotel and the side characters (I often liked them more than the 2 main characters). I suggest reading it in the Christmas-New Years time frame if you‘re going to!

I was disappointed that I didn‘t love this book. Normally I can‘t put BOL books down, but this one I found myself struggling to get through. The characters are unlikeable, the storyline is a little dull, and it didn‘t flow very well. Also, Lucas‘ lines were so choppy and awkward. I‘m not sure if this was to portray his accent, but it didn‘t read nicely and almost caused me to give up on the book entirely.

I borrowed the bingo board to demonstrate how tropey this book is, not something I usually expect from O'Leary. Nor did I much appreciate it, though on my third try I did manage to get over the hump and enjoy the book overall. But there really should be a “character needs a kick in the pants“ box for this sort of book, in which one person (usually a woman) is a petty, vindictive pain and the other person (usually a man) somehow loves them for it.

Beth O‘Leary is an auto read romance writer for me. I often complain of the overused miscommunication trope a romance, but this is now my litmus story for how to execute this trope successfully. It was fun to root for Izzy and Lucas the entire time. I also appreciated the flushed out ending.

After a month of mysteries and spooky stories, I really need a warm and cozy romance, and this fit the bill. It might not be my favorite by this author (I think I‘ve read them all?) but I very much enjoyed it! And it‘s kind of Christmas-y without feeling like I‘ve got a jump on that holiday.

This may be the ultimate enemy to lover story I have read in a long time. I enjoyed all the found family feels. This book has a Christmas mood without being a Christmas read. And though I don't usually enjoy the miscommunication thing, there is a line in here that I won't soon forget.

Izzy & Lucas work the reception desk of a charming hotel in the Old Forest (which is now on my bucket list) in danger of closing forever. All the remaining employees pull together to get them thru their last Christmas & hope to find a way to keep it open. Despite "hating"each other I &L compete to return some lost wedding rings found on site & learn end up learning about & falling for each other. Not as good as The No Show but still charming.

This is my second book by Beth O‘Leary and I loved it so much. This was such a cute fun read and I fell in love with the characters. One of my favorite tropes is enemies to lovers and this had it. I definitely plan to read her other books!

This is O‘Leary‘s most straightforward romance so far, and the summary honestly sounds like a silly Hallmark Christmas movie, but don‘t let that put you off.
This still has all her usual, wonderful work - endearing MCs, dual POV, side characters that shine so bright - I was so happy to read this & will continue to read anything she writes.

It was a good enemies-to-lovers story set around Christmas time in a hotel that faces closing down.

It was missing the typical Beth O'Leary twist to the story. Or was the twist just obvious to me very early on?

What a great enemy-to-lovers rom-com. While it had some of the traditional tropes, it still felt refreshing & new. The story takes place around X-mas, but even for a grinch like me, it was enjoyable & created the right atmosphere.

Izzy and Lucas both work at Forest Manor Hotel, a whimsical but ramshackle hotel in England. I absolutely loved the dichotomy of Izzy and Lucas‘ personalities, and the side characters provided such depth to the story.
