Haven's Rock is a well-hidden town surrounded by forest. And it's supposed to be, being that it's a refuge for those who need to disappear. Detective Casey Duncan and her husband, Sheriff Eric Dalton already feel at home in their new town, which reminds them of Rockton, where they first met. And while they know how to navigate the woods and its various dangers, other residents don't. Which is why people aren't allowed to wander off alone. When Max, the town's youngest resident-taught to track animals by Eric-fears a bear is stalking a hiking party, alarms are raised. Even stranger, the ten-year-old swears the bear had human eyes. Casey and Eric know the dangers a bear can present, so they're taking it seriously. But odd occurrences are happening all around them, and when a dead body turns up, they're not sure what they're up against.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 for this one. This series is another one by Armstrong where I want more of the side characters than the main ones. But that is almost always the case with me.

I want more Mathias, Ty, April, Kenny, Lilith, and Isabel.
Hades agrees. But also more Storm, Nero, and Raoul. I agree. 😹

Book 2 in the Haven‘s Rock series finds Casey and Dalton in an uneasy truce with their neighbors when a boy goes missing from HR. Excellent continuation of the series as well as a clear setup of the next book.

Hooked_on_books @bio_chem06 I love it, too! So cute when dogs do that. She doesn‘t do it often, so I was glad to capture it. 3w

Second book in the Haven‘s Rock series (spinoff of the author‘s Rockton series) & a solid entry. The town is getting off the ground but of course things are not settling down. There are big changes for Casey & Dalton & danger lurking when the youngest resident disappears into the fiorest after Seeing a “bear man.” I liked the twists & turns the story took & hate to wait a ⬇️

'The Boy Who Cried Bear' is the.second book in the Haven's Rock Series by Kelley Armstrong. Casey and Eric are one of my favorite detective and sheriff duo. They have left Rockton and started a new hidden town in the Yukon called Haven's Rock.

There are a lot of things different between Haven's Rock and ⬇️

#netgalley #stmartinspress #minotaurbooks #kelleyarmstrong #theboywhocriedbear #readaway2024 #serieslove2024 #alphabetchallenge2024 (B)

Monica5 Rockton. One being that, in Haven's Rock, they allow children. We meet two of the children, Carson and Max, in this installment. They are brothers that moved with their mom when their dad was murdered. One day on a hike, Max notices a bear. This starts the next case for Casey and Eric. While they have the town locked down, Max goes missing.

Armstrong continues to develop all the main characters in this series. Casey, Eric and the others have grown so much from the start of the Rockton series. She finds a way to keep this series interesting. Armstrong always leaves me wanting this next book, but alas I must wait. She combined suspense, mystery and everyday life into a satisfying read.

If you haven't read the Haven's Rock Series yet, you need to, especially if you read the Rockton series and enjoyed it.

Published February 20, 2024

Thank you to Netgalley, St. Martin's Prees, Minotaur Books, and Armstrong for the E-ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Kelley Armstrong never disappoints. This is the second book in the Haven's Rock series, and it's still on par with the Rockwoods, which it's based on. Crossing fingers for many more to come. #11-2024

The second installment in the #HavensRockSeries makes for a fast & gripping read! This is Armstrong‘s 9th novel to feature Detective Casey Butler, & one of my favorites! Allowing children to the remote Yukon community marks a big change & when one goes missing, the search is on— but also raises questions about how different things really are. Exciting, tense & with a twisting plot, I couldn‘t put this down & absolutely can‘t wait for the next one!

ShelleyBooksie Yay!! 2mo
