This was absolutely fun!
It was pretty much what I was hoping for as I do love it when villains have their moments and this book gave me so many great villainous moments.

Normally I'm not into the isekai genre in general so I probably could have done without it but everything else .... Was just so much fun- the wit, satire, despair, snark, hope, and characterizations were what I didn't know I was looking for till I started reading it.

Gave this a try. It was penned as Adult Fantasy.

I guess I expected something different than a story with an NA main character, cringe-y "real world" banter in a High Fantasy setting, and clunky writing.

I want book two in my hands now! Fresh and original and I need more of this in my life.

There are a few really great quotes in this read… loved that it‘s a different type of read and yet there are portions of the book that are relatable to other books … while I like this for many reasons I really hated the ending … I mean really I need to know what‘s next … so I have to order the next book

My impulse December stack has an unexpected color scheme!

There are so many irons in the fire in this book that it‘s hard for me to know what was sincere, what was parody, what was a meditation on the inherent unreality of plot structure, and what was just a fantasy novel. There‘s lots of funny lines, there‘s purple writing that I‘m 85% sure is genre aware parody, there‘s reevaluations of problematic fantasy tropes.

This book is almost entirely a story within a story, with a nod and a wink as if the reader, along with the MC, is in on the plot. A very clever way to experience the “travel to another world” scenario, with a lot of secrets, surprises, and wtf moments. The world is lushly imagined and the characters, from MC to the most minor, are richly developed and well written. The end left me gasping, and def waiting for more…

This looked fun, about a sick young woman offered a chance to save herself by becoming a villainous character in her favorite fantasy series, but the writing is so juvenile and simplistic that it just didn't work for me. I only made it 50 pages. Maybe it gets better.

I liked the ARC so much I picked up the hardcover, 🖤

Not even two weeks ago, I was sweating on the beach, now I‘m shivering every morning on my way to work again. Yup, school year has officially started and I‘m teaching my first classes next week 😐.
#LongLiveEvil is too long and the middle drags on and on. Idea was pretty cool though.

A soft pick for me. I liked it overall, but I had to take breaks because the villainess got annoying at times though her irreverence had me lauging out loud. A fun twist on the romantasy genre: the main character falls into her favorite book and wakes up as the villainess.

Question for the crowd: what fantasy book would you like to be a part of?

For me, it would be dragonriders of pern as long as I was guaranteed a dragon.

Quiet Saturday afternoon.

There‘s a great book lurking somewhere inside this generally ok—but definitely not as good as I hoped—book that asks what if being evil is really just wanting to survive? That‘s the central question in this homage to villains & high fantasy that sees a terminally ill teenager offered a second chance at life as a fictional character in her favorite story. Murder, mayhem, the undead, magic, murder, romance, murder, & a soft pick from me.

Very, very excited about this one!

I really liked the premise of this novel where a person gets pulled into the world of an epic fantasy series as one of the villains. However, I really struggled with the pacing, which made it difficult for me to ever really get immersed in the story.

Rae is dying & given the chance to live her life in the world of her favorite fantasy series. She accepts that challenge & wakes up cancer-free & feeling amazing.

Loved Rae‘s bodyguard. A fast paced crazy ride with Rae unexpectedly cast as … dun dun dunnnn … a villain … she tries to change the outcome of the story but … EPIC FAILURE!

Great fantasy debut!
