A really enjoyable Gothic horror
A really enjoyable Gothic horror
The couple was sweet, a little rushed but whatever. What I didn't like was that there was no resolution to the 'bad guys' There was attempted murder and it was just 'oh well, we know who did it but we can't prove it'
I dunno, it's realistic but I also don't want that
I skim read the majority of this because I didn't like the writing. It was awkward and badly paced.
The story lacked a lot of tension and felt very low stakes even though it was constantly telling me how high stakes it was.
I think I would like the characters more written by a different author.
May always makes me think of flowers and spring so I went with some more colourful dice for #roll100
1 = 29
2 = 59
3 = 62
The first author selected for #queerbc is Adib Khorram!
This is for May, I‘ve got it up early so you can pick what you want to read and source it.
You can read anything he has written, so have a look and see what catches your interest. If you‘ve already read something by them maybe drop a recommendation in the comments.
I‘ll post again at the end of May to see what everyone read and what you thought
Happy reading!
This was such a wonderful and heart-warming asexual/aromatic coming of age story. The characters and relationships were really well done and interesting. There was exploration of what being in a relationship meant, what love meant, and that platonic relationships can be just as valid as romantic and sexual ones.
The art style was great and I really enjoyed reading it.
Thanks to #Netgalley for the #ARC of the book
I'm excited! Finally carved out some time to binge watch the TV show. I am ready to be destroyed!
Thank you to everyone who suggested authors for #queerbc Over 80 were suggested which is amazing! Vote for the author who you would like to read in May. You are selecting an author and can read any of their works.
I‘ve given some examples of their works so you can look them up, see if any catch your attention, but you are not limited to those books. You can read anything they have written.
Vote here - https://forms.gle/9DbrmKEvhk84Fpdt6
Ok, I am being impulsive in-between folding socks! #queerbc will be starting in May
One LGBTQIA+ author will be selected each month and you can read anything they have written. At the end of the month you can discuss them, their works, and maybe stack a few new books.
Suggest authors below or through GoogleForms - https://forms.gle/sYFzHid61eSJRaHT9
I'll keep a list then randomly select 3, you guys will then vote and one author will be chosen
Well done everyone! There was a total of 80 books logged and 16 Pokémon caught in March for #gottacatchemall
You guys are amazing!
Koffing and Vespiquen are now tied for most caught Pokémon
@Kenyazero @willaful @Jari-chan @5280reader @Zuhkeeyah @Whollybologna @KateReadsYA @TheAromaofBooks @Yuki_Onna @Laughterhp @SunnieK @coffees
Would anyone be interested in a book club that focuses on LGBTQIA+ authors?
There have been a few in the past and I don't want to step on anyone's toes, I just like organising things and selfishly could do with some recommendations!
I was thinking of either doing an author a month where we vote on an author and then you can read any book by them or choosing a specific book.
If you are interested or have any thoughts comment below!
#lgbtqia
April is nearly here! I refuse to believe it! March has been really busy for me so no pretty dice this month, just rolls from my lost in fey elf that doesn‘t like undead and is the tallest one in the group.
Here are the picks for April #roll100
Roll 1 = 100
Roll 2 = 6
Roll 3 = 74
I had the digital copy of this book and no effort was put into making it suitable for digital media.
The pictures are tiny and don't expand. There are lots of tables that just don't work over several pages. It made the book unreadable.
This is a series of short articles by various authors. It's interesting but I found the articles didn't go into much detail.
It was more like a quick overview
🤣🤣
If you are going to set a book somewhere then visit. It is really inexcusable to get street names wrong or describe areas of a city wrong. Take a research holiday.
York is amazing, and so far I get no sense of that from this book. It's generic England!
Feb into March is a busy and draining time for me so I've not been reading (except TWD fix it fics) and I'm very behind on everything.
Also, I bought 8 Rick Riordan books impulsively because they were on 4 for 3. I'm doing fine! 🤣
#bookspin @TheAromaofBooks
This is a really interesting and well written book, it just didn't capture me
February #readordonate @julieclair
March is fantasy chunkster and One Piece for #roll100
I'm not sure if I'll read any of them. One Piece maybe as I can get through that pretty quickly. Feb/March tend to be draining months for me and not sure I want big books
March #roll10 picks are here! I went with a yellow theme as I'm hoping spring will come soon
Roll 1 = 79
Roll 2 = 48
Roll 3 = 67
February check in for #gottacatchemall How we getting on?
Congrats to @Jari-chan @Whollybologna @Laughterhp for catching their first Pokémon
Koffing is now the most caught Pokémon
The first in this series didn't grab me. I liked the artwork but the story was a bit slow and disjointed.
This was way too slow for me. I enjoyed the setting and the main couple but there was no tension, it just plodded on.
The 'plot' isn't resolved, I think it runs into the other books. I don't care enough to read the other books.
#readyourkindle @CBee
I like a good slow burn where stuff happens. This was just repetitive pining. It gets boring after a while.
Well I'm sold!
Gay Pride Shop is offering 20% off all books for LGBTQIA+ History Month
#ukdeals #lgbtqiahistorymonth
This was recommended to me so many times and I finally gave in and read it.
I was bored. It started off well and then just went down hill. It's not a good sci Fi book, it's not a good romance book, the erotica was fairly meh.
The main couple were boring so I may try another in the series to see if that was the problem
This read more like a a/b/o romance than a parody. I'm here for the parody. I don't care about this couple as a real couple.
I want Brad to be vindicated and for Devon to turn up.
I'm putting this as a pick if you stop about 80% in.
It's a fun satire that mocks romance tropes and has a 'real person' reacting to genre conventions that make no sense. Love that.
Then it becomes an a/b/o romance and I'm checking out. I'll read a few more because they are short and I'm coming off a migraine so my brain is dumb
I didn't fully understand all of the questions. I went through pretending it was a timed test otherwise I would over think everything and analyse the language used.
I don't agree with the cultural and eco feminism bits. I read through the descriptions at the end of the quiz and those don't align with my views at all
https://www.idrlabs.com/feminist-perspectives/test.php
This was like reading a speed run, there was no depth and no details.
Very disappointing
My list for #readyourkindle It's a mixture of work books and romance books.
I don't want to keep paying for KU so I need to read all the good books! 🤣
@CBee
January #bookspinbingo
I read both my #bookspin and #doublespin
Pretty happy with the month even if some of the books were terrible
@TheAromaofBooks
It‘s nearly February already! I thought I‘d post a monthly check in to see how we were all getting on
Congrats to @TheAromaofBooks who is the first person to catch a Pokémon! They caught Ponyta and Lapras in January
How we all doing? Are there any prompts that are particularly challenging? Want any recommendations?
This series has gotten progressively more dull as it goes on. It relies too much on the soul-mate trope. None of the couples really talk, they're just perfect for each other blah blah
A plot was introduced in the second book and that has continued through into this one. Weirdly, the plot was a mistake. It makes the books more serious, I guess, or less romance fluff, and the author isn't very good at that.
This is a good reference book for mat Pilates. The sections on apparatus and small equipment are really not worth it. It's well laid out with clear instructions, watch points and photographs.
This was published in 2010 and it felt like an older Pilates book. There are a few things I wouldn't do as a teacher but I know I was encouraged to do as a student many years ago.
Got a few titles this month but otherwise sticking to the not naming books. It's working out better for me this way
#bookspinbingo @thearomaofbooks
Here are my picks for February #roll100
I already read The Christmas Jigsaw Murders so yay me!
I'm going to try and read Draakenwood since its a familair series that I enjoy. I've got A Million to One out from the library which was my January pick and I'd like to read that as well
This is my #readordonate for January. This has been on my shelf for ages and I keep starting it and stopping then ignoring it. It‘s become an obligation now which doesn‘t encourage me to read it!
Going to donate it and hope someone else will enjoy reading it.
@julieclair
January super-fast for me and I totally lost track of time! February is nearly here and with it comes the new #roll100 rolls
I wanted to go for a blue theme because February is usually cold where I am but I don‘t have many blue dice (obviously need some more to fill out my colour palette)
Roll 1 = 44
Roll 2 = 50
Roll 3 = 76
Tag me at @PuddleJumper if you want to share your reads!
A human with no filter and a lot of thoughts gets sent to be judged by the demon Minos. They fall in lust then in love, there are some shenanigans and fated loves type thing and it‘s all a bit of crazy fun
This was the weakest book by Alexandra Benedict. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good, it was very middling but it was an ok festive murder mystery
