A Dance Through Time
A Dance Through Time | Lynn Kurland
9 posts | 10 read | 3 to read
From Lynn Kurland, the New York Times bestselling author of the Nine Kingdom series. Scotland, 1311. James MacLeod was the most respectedand fearedlaird in all of Scotland. He loved his men like brothers and his land with a passion. And he allowed no women to cross the threshold of his keep... New York City, 1996. With an indifferent fiance and a stalled writing career, Elizabeth Smith found passion and adventure only in the unpublished romance novels that she wrote. Until a Scottish hero began calling to her... Elizabeth longed for the man of her dreams. But she knew she was overworked when she began hearing his voicewhen she was awake. To clear her mind, she took a walk in Gramercy Park. She dozed off on a benchand woke up in a lush forest in forteenth-century Scotland. A forest surrounding the castle of James MacLeod, an arrogant and handsome lord with a very familiar voice. Elizabeth would turn his ordered world upside down and go where no woman had ever gone before: straight into his heart...

When Elizabeth randomly wakes up in 1311 Scotland, she embarks on an adventure she never expected. Her story wasn‘t my favorite time-travel romance, but still fun.

@Sarahreadstoomuch It‘s already on the way to you!

TheAromaofBooks I didn't dislike this book, but I did think it was a bit too long!! 4y
Sarahreadstoomuch @hes7 it‘s here! Thanks! @Allylu I‘ll do my best to stay on schedule... finishing a book now and then I‘ll read this to get it on its way to you 4y

Laughterhp My book went out today to you via media mail. It says it should be there by Wednesday. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Laughterhp - Sounds good. I know many people are complaining about slow mail times, but I haven't had any issues with media mail at this point. 4y
hes7 Got it today! Thanks for being so flexible with addresses (next month will be back to CO). 😊 4y
TheAromaofBooks @hes7 - Wow, that was super fast for media mail!! No worries on the address... technically it's like 50 cents cheaper for me to send it to this side of the Mississippi River 😂 4y

My #weeklyforecast looks so much like last week's that I'm using the same picture!! 😂 Better than halfway through the tagged book for #LMPBC . Just now I asked my husband what we were doing this morning and he said, “You know, I think it's a good morning to catch up on some reading.“ Now we read completely different things - he's reading about some kind of mining strike in the early 1900's that involves a great deal of death & tragedy whilst I ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) intend to continue with my HEA romance, but still! It's a lovely morning with the windows open and we have a super comfy window seat designed for reading!!! Hoping to making some #AwesomeAugust progress!!

Cinfhen I love that you‘re both readers 💕💕 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Andrew65 - You may have been the one to recommend it to me - I've never read Binchy before, and someone on here told me that that is where they would start!! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @bookandbedandtea - Our house was a little ramshackle when we moved in so we've spent a LOT of weekends the last six years working hard, and still have a ways to go, but sometimes it's nice to just sit back and soak in how far we've come!!! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Cinfhen - he's not quite as passionate about books as I am, and never reads fiction (which is pretty much ALL I read haha) but we definitely work together to expand the neverending book collection!!! 😁 4y
Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks That was her first book. 4y
Cinfhen Collecting books is wayyyy more fun than actually reading books!!!!! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Cinfhen - I spend at least as much time organizing books, making lists of books, rearranging books, thinking about books, and shopping for books as I do reading!! 😂 4y
Cinfhen 🙋‍♀️ummmm, that would be ME!!!! 👆🏽 4y

The other day I was sad that there wasn't a readathon, and then realized I could do my own personal page count goal for the month!! So I decided to aim for am average of 250pgs/day, which, as you can see, I have not been accomplishing!! So my main goal for #AwesomeAugust is to catch up with my overall August goal - starting with my deficit of 613 pages!!

I will say that I am not super fussed about my goal. It's fun and I would love to hit it ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) but part of the reason I haven't is because my husband & I are playing Red Dead Redemption 2 together (AGAIN! 😂) and other family stuff has been going on - good reasons, I feel, for my reading time to suffer. Every once in a while, it's people over books!!

So yes, hoping to hit my goals, but not going to be devastated if I don't!! We'll see what happens!!

@Andrew65
4y
Allylu Good plan! 4y
Andrew65 Good luck wit overhauling that deficit. 😊👍 Always difficult to balance different things. 4y
MemoirsForMe Glad you‘re taking time to read and PLAY! 😄👍🏻 4y
TheAromaofBooks @UwannaPublishme - Reminding myself that people are more important than books has actually been kind of a big life-lesson for me over the years! 😂 4y

#BookReport - Not as much reading this week, although I did check off three books not in my forecast! 😅 Anne of Windy Poplars - an absolute delight as always; Ukridge - not Wodehouse's finest, but still great fun; Blackbird - a graphic novel that completely engaged me but felt more like a set-up than a story. Rogue Princess was a surprise win. Mischievous Meg, written by the author of Pippi Longstocking (which I've never read), is one I've ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) owned for probably 20 years and never picked up. I don't usually bail on such short books, but honestly after three chapters Meg was SUCH an annoying & spoiled little brat that I just couldn't take any more. In the giveaway bin it goes!!

Currently reading the tagged book for #LMPBC. I don't usually read the time-traveling romances, so it's a new twist for me!!

Pickpick

Finished my first #ReadingRush book that is my #LMPBC choice AND #1 on my #BookSpinBingo #GroupR is reading romance. I chose to re-read this book after 20 years because it introduced me to Lynn Kurland who writes about two 14th century Scottish clans and how they interact with the 20th century. And it‘s only as steamy as you imagine it - not in the words in the book. Clean in other words. I look forward to re-reading the series.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! I'm almost done reading my book for this group also and really enjoying it!! 4y

Okay. I‘m going out on a limb here. Lynn Kurland is my favorite historical fiction time travel romance author. These are the first books in her MacLeod and DePiaget family stories. They were published over 20 years ago - but that means you may not have read them! I think they are fun to read. Either one works for me - or I can keep looking. #GroupR #LMPBC

Sarahreadstoomuch I‘ve not read much in the way of historical romance like this... totally open to it. Intrigued a bit more by the time travel twist 5y
hes7 You had me at “time travel!” I haven‘t read this author before, but the books look fun. 5y
Allylu 2 Yes! @TheAromaofBooks what do you think? 5y

TheAromaofBooks I haven't read either of them, so I'm good with whichever you like!! They'll be a fun contrast to our other reads, too!! 5y
Allylu Yay! Thank you! 5y
Allylu Okay. I‘m going with “A Dance Through Time”. 5y
