⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Tomb of the Sun King” was a fun addition to the “Raiders of the Arcana” series. I enjoyed the characters (Neil was annoying at first but his ongoing character development was promising), and there was plenty of adventure to be found in these pages. I look forward to when the next book comes out in November!

It was a slog. The author was trying to fit way too much modern messaging that the story felt disjointed and not the fun adventure I was hoping for. The parts that were fun were short lived and I needed more of them. If this was a modern woman dropped into the time period (a la Outlander) this could have been really fun. There was nothing wrong with the messages themselves, but the execution really bogged down the momentum of the story-2.5 stars.

I haven‘t been doing many individual book reviews lately but it always comes as a surprise to me when I‘m the first to post about a book so I couldn‘t let the opportunity pass me by. All middle graders will enjoy this adventurous series, particularly reluctant male readers who prefer the outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, dogs etc. (Of note: abusive stepdad). Adults who enjoy a good road trip or nature read will also enjoy this series.

I've been using Serial Reader to read some classics, and decided to take a step away from the classic crime I've been reading and read something else... and picked more or less at random. 😅 I think I remember trying to read my mum's copy as a kid, but it didn't stick then. It's quite fun, though it's really terribly obvious who Zorro is...

Nonfiction about an expedition to kayak the Tsangpo Gorge in Tibet. It‘s a wild story and about more than just the river.
