pickContinuing with my stack of Dorothea Lange books, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this was a graphic novel with beautiful yet haunting illustrations. It goes into detail about the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII and should be required reading for students. It also includes photos by Toyo Miyatake (who was imprisoned in a camp) and Ansel Adams. A part of American history that should not be forgotten. 5⭐️

A collection of photographs taken by Dorothea Lange and Ansel Adams at the behest of the government to document the forced removal and detention of Japanese Americans during WWII, and covertly by Toyo Miyatake while he was one of the prisoners. These are paired with illustrations and age appropriate explanations of the history written by Lange‘s goddaughter. This would make a good classroom resource.⬇️⬇️⬇️
