YA fantasy which was entertaining but with common elements in the story. Joan has power which she doesn‘t know until a situation happens. She is important to save her people. But in this novel, they can travel in time. There is YA romance🙄cheesy at the beginning. I will continue with the trilogy because I have the gorgeous sequel from FairyLoot edition😍To be honest, should be so-so but it was entertaining, I need it when I read it 2.8/3⭐️

Maybe I was a little disappointed with this novel but it was related with my expectations as a reader. I was expecting a story similar to Three Souls, which I loved, expecting same tone but it was different. Don‘t like much how that fantasy parts were integrated. But I still like this author writing style. 3.5/3.75⭐️

Narrated in two time lines. In present, Roya is in her 70s living in US. In the past, is almost 20 living in Tehran. She was happy, in love, engaged. But she was not accepted by her fiancée‘s mother and the political situation in the country was dangerous. What happened to Roya is related with family situation, drama, secrets, guilty debts that lead in betrayal, deception. A sad novel that shows that an emotional closure could be part ⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) of the healing process. I found the story so pretty. It is a slow pace read, character driven. Maybe Roya is a pessimistic, complicated character but she will transcend her past experiences. 4/4.5 ⭐️ 6mo

Gissy @Sace Follow the universe signs🙌I heard about this book watching a YouTuber and her review captivated me and I just bought it and read it now. I hope you enjoy it. It is a slow pace. There are elements of mental health. (edited) 6mo

Read in May- another oldie in my tbr. I loved this book. I know it has been criticized about the polarized characters development, others say they are not realistic but still. The story is about all these wars and political conflicts in Afghanistan. The author will explain some history events, specifically the role of women, through the eyes of Mariam and Laila😢It is a heartbreaking story. I loved it and I‘m glad I read it. ❤️ ⬇️

Gissy Another novel that motivates to read more about these sad events in history. Even today, there is so much to do in many countries to be treated with respect and with equal rights.

#AsianReadathon YouTuber @WithCindy prompt- friendship In this novel there are various friendships relations. (Afghanistan)

Mehso-so

Read in May- another dual timeline- the main story is about Nour and her family when her mother decided to go back from NY to Syria. So interesting in terms how Nour needs to adapt to this country unknown to her in which she doesn‘t know the language. So well described the places and the culture. Then, there is an old story about a legend that will describe the changes that Nour us experiencing. I didn‘t enjoy much these parts, sometimes boring⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) so it was a story that I didn‘t like much but I couldn‘t put it down because I wanted to know what was going to happen in that journey🤷🏽‍♀️☺️3⭐️
#AsianReadathon YouTuber @WithCindy prompt-is not an aventure but it was about a journey. It was also about self-discovery (Syria)

Read in May. Predictable since page one. I can‘t say much without spoil the story. I didn‘t see that twist coming but maybe not a surprise for some readers. So what I liked in this book? Those psychological dark personalities dynamics description. I think author knows pretty well the correctional system but some actions were a little bit exaggerated. Slow pace. I liked it not love it. But it was okay for me. It has low rating in GR(so-so)3⭐️

Bonus book for the Asian readathon. I requested a digital copy of this from the library and didn't think it would come in time, so I chose another book for the challenge. Then this book became available, so I added it as a bonus. This book is a locked room murder mystery that was first published in 1946. #asianreadathon #asianreadathon2023

My fifth book for the Asian readathon. The challenge for this one is to simply read a book by an Asian author. This book is a gothic-infused story about a marriage that is unraveled by dark secrets, a friendship cursed to end in tragedy, and the danger of believing in fairy tales. #asianreadathon #asianreadathon2023

My fourth book for the Asian Readathon. The challenge: read a book featuring an Asian character who is a hot mess, famous, or eccentric. Song Yan gave up her dream of being a concert pianist. She starts receiving mysterious packages of mushrooms every week & cooks them with her mother-in-law. When she receives a letter from the sender summoning her to a strange house, it leads her to a famous pianist who disappeared 10 years ago. #asianreadathon
