Read4life I hope everyone is doing well. Since we won‘t be able to get home for Christmas with everything going on with my FIL (he‘s now in hospice care), we flew my daughter down for her winter break. I‘m so excited she‘s here. 4d

Avanders So glad you were able to have your daughter join you @Read4life ! As for me, we have our holiday baking extravaganza today. Sister & I bake/make Christmas candies to give away to friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc., all day. ☺️ 4d

DogMomIrene @Read4life Glad your daughter is with you. And hopefully hospice care is going well for your FIL. My husband was a hospice nurse for a few years. It‘s not an easy time, but sending out positive vibes that it‘s pain free. 4d

Librarybelle So glad your daughter is with you, @Read4life ! And that sounds like fun, @Avanders ! This week has been crazy with meetups with friends, sending out my resume to potential clients, vet visits and checkins (Vladimir had his annual checkup, and Zeke seems to be doing better from his illness), and finishing my holiday cards for the year. I have to plan out what ingredients I need for requested cookies, muffins, and pies for Christmas, which is fun! 4d

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm Today‘s a wee bit busy here. I‘m babysitting my niece in the morning and we‘re taking The Wyrmling bowling for the first time this afternoon. We‘re pretty much ready for the holidays. I‘m still wrapping gifts and need to pick up a few more stocking stuffers for my husband. Hoping everyone is having a stress free weekend! ❤️ 4d

Cuilin What a week! My daughter R, had a fire in her apartment and had to move out. It was contained quickly and no one was hurt. They‘re hopping between our house and her boyfriend‘s dad house. They were moving out at the end of December anyway. I‘m going to see “Christmas at Pemberley” in Vermont today. 4d

inthegreensandblues Working on holiday cards today, the past week has been too busy and I'm behind! Tonight I'm going to see my new guy play with his band for the first time and I'm ridiculously nervous about all of the people I'm going to meet 😂 3d

Soscha Not much feeling it, any holidays save Halloween. No family, no children, no gifts, no holiday meals. Also, praise mercy, in SoCal so no snow. IDK, is what it is in hope I‘ll come into luck at some point. For reference I have lost my last four remaining animal companions to old age in the last 3 months. I‘m just disconnected from life. 3d

Bookwormjillk I had so much going on last week I ended up crashing on the couch after dinner and accidentally taking a 5 hour nap. Oops. Luckily I‘m still feeling tired so I shouldn‘t have trouble sleeping tonight, and hopefully will feel more energized for a busy day tomorrow. I enjoyed reading everyone‘s updates. 3d

TheAromaofBooks @Cuilin - Oh my! Do let me know if your daughter needs anything. That's so scary. My sister had a fire in her apartment a year and a half ago and she lost pretty much everything (including her cats), so I know how scary and disorienting that can be.

@Read4life - Hope hospice care goes well for your FIL. It's a hard time, but can also be a time of peace and memory-sharing. 💕 3d

TheAromaofBooks Busy here. We are thinking of selling our house and a realtor is coming to look at it tomorrow, so we have been doing a lot of little clean up, touch up stuff. We've lived here for ten years and completely renovated every aspect of this house, so it kind of feels like we are going up for a final exam to find out how much it's worth 😂 3d

Cuilin @julieclair @TheAromaofBooks Thank you. We‘re going to the apartment today to pack up some things. My understanding is that the damage was contained to a wall and some cabinets. It was electrical because the landlord plugged the fridge into an extension cord!!! It could have been a worse situation. 3d

Chrissyreadit Obviously i‘m a day late… but really love when i can see what everyone is up to. i love these posts Deb! I‘m trying to clean and hang some greenery today. Recovering from another injury and being grateful it is healing. Trying to get excited and not overwhelmed- I decided to host a cookie exchange and Yule event next Saturday. I will probably buy my cookies- because I cannot bake these days…. and also will not eat cookies 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but miss 3d

Kenyazero Thanks @AllDebooks , it was fun reading everyone‘s responses! I‘ve been super stressed and have been having trouble looking forward to holiday season because people are a bit nasty. Just finished a week vacation in a nearby town which I think was relaxing? Helped my mom decorate this weekend. I‘m looking forward to joining a local LGBTQIA+ craft group this week and hoping it‘ll help me feel less stressed too. (edited) 3d

There are a lot of littens who i think will empathize if you want to grieve out loud and share pictures and stories of them. @TheBookHippie has a running chat on christmas day for anyone who is alone on the holidays or needs a break. I know most days i‘m held together with duct tape and bakery string so am here any time for support and hope. 2d

TheBookHippie My Daughter had a hysterectomy on Friday due to severe endometriosis - she‘s 35 and she has horrific reactions to anesthesia and we are still in that phase along with immense pain. She will not take strong pain meds as I‘m allergic to most and they don‘t agree with her either and she already reacts to anesthesia so… 800 mg Motrin it is. 2d

TheBookHippie @AllDebooks yes. It‘s young, however with the new president coming in and her unmarried status the doctor was afraid so we got it done. Since the birth of my grandson a copper IUD was helpful but not perfect, with it being likely made illegal it was too great a risk. It‘s a miracle she had my grandson, who will be 11 in February. Her case was very severe. I‘m hoping she‘s free of pain now. 2d

I have recently come into contact with a secret society here on Litsy apparently called #CoffeeBeanBookClub or #CBBC. I am SHOCKED! I'm not quite sure how it works but they seem to prey on victims of both coffee and book addiction and reward their affliction with gifts. It's absolutely wicked! How do I sign up?

The majestic, stunning, breath taking Snoqualmie Falls. Home and land of First Nations People, the Snoqualmie. ‘People of the moon‘.

I have only unfortunately seen a few waterfalls in my life so far, but this one is the most beautiful. I couldn‘t look away. The water always calls me. Lots of spirit energy in this area. Hallowed ground.

TheSpineView I'm lounging in bed for a little bit before I have to start my day. Headed to the barn for an 11am riding lesson. Lunch with my barn friends, then a quick stop at the grocery store. Shower again, to get rid of the barn smell, a little housework, reading and that is my day. Rinse and repeat on Sunday. 4mo

Bookwomble I've been reading the ST 365 book alongside a rewatch of the show for what feels like years! It's taking me longer to view than I'd planned, but I'm enjoying having the inside view on favourite episodes, even if the entities are quite brief. 4mo

An Atlas of Tolkien | David Day

Disappointed in this one. It‘s bound so beautifully and smells great, but for something that‘s labeled as an atlas and says it celebrates great artwork inspired by Tolkien without too much explanation in the preface, there‘s not a lot of artwork and a lot of words. Also a lot of dense family tree type charts and timelines. Would much rather recommend reading illustrated editions of the Silmarillion, Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings.

Librarybelle I think this would be a fun weekly checkin! It‘s been very hot in my part of PA, but also sunny. I have a busy week ahead, as I am nearing completion of my coursework in proofreading. I also have a number of library books due that I should read! But, this Sunday is a visit to a winery with a friend for a wine and ice cream pairing. Yum! 6mo

BethM It is pouring here in WI. Today I need to teach yoga and tomorrow is church, Sam‘s club, and the bookstore! 6mo

IndoorDame I‘m also enjoying our check ins and would be down to continue them. I‘m feeling better than last week. Still nursing the tail end of whatever bug I had, but definitely strong enough to start catching up on the household stuff that fell by the wayside (at least in small bursts) so that‘s probably what my week looks like. But I‘m actually looking forward to it since having my space in balance is one of the things that centers me mentally. 6mo

TheSpineView I like the idea of a weekly check-in. Just my usual plans for the weekend, ride and go to lunch with my barn friends, then home to get some housework done. Hot here so the riding will be short today. Next week it will be hellish hot, in the upper 90s with a heat index well over 100. Just as well that I have to work next week. At the AC in the office works well. 6mo

wanderinglynn I just worked out & did my stretching, so feeling pretty good. It‘s going to be 99/100F in DC this weekend = staying inside with the blinds closed & the fan running on high. I‘m working on updating a paper I wrote about 10 years ago but didn‘t publish. That & reading are my plans. The heat wave is supposed to continue through next week, although this weekend is the peak temps. 🥵 90 is going to feel cool after this weekend. 😆 6mo

IndoorDame @TheSpineView I rode growing up, and I remember at my outdoor stable they used to have us ride bareback when the weather got obscenely hot or obscenely cold (for the horses comfort not ours, though I doubt anyone was actually comfortable 😂) 6mo

TheBookHippie Sunday is forecasted the last day of miserable heat here. We shall see. I‘m doing chores in the house today, the heat and my RA are NOT friends. I‘m about to make waffles and cut up the oranges and get my pour over coffee going. I finished up most of my Litsy love writing last night so a couple of more letters to write today too. My flare is tapering off thank goodness. Reading to do this afternoon - library books are due! 6mo

Cuilin This has been one of my best weeks pain and mobility wise. Almost no stiffness. I met up with friends. Went to a game and I‘m off to a Bridal shower today. I need to watch out for fatigue but so far I feel good. Best week of the year. 6mo

I slept in, the heat wave is alive and well here & I‘m hoping the humidity does abate a bit too @TheBookHippie I‘m thankful for a/c but I hate having the house closed up after winter. I‘ve got a giant cold brew with foamed milk in front of me and I‘m trying to catch up with Butter for #camplitsy we still have another week of school and last week lasted FOREVER. I am helping serve a meal at a church today, it will be busy 6mo

So glad to hear you had a good week and were able to take full advantage of it! That up and down cycle with chronic illness is something I‘m familiar with. 6mo

TEArificbooks We finally have a week with no plans. My hubby travels for work so when he comes home for a week or two between jobs we usually pack it full of family fun activities and appointments. We even go on trips while he is home even though he travels for a living. However, the cosmos aligned this time and we have no plans no appointments no trips. So it is time for a lazy week at home and to hide from the triple digits temps. 6mo

DebinHawaii I love the idea of an ongoing weekly check in. 💛 After a month+ of travel & illness (either bronchitis twice or another form of crud) & crazy work times, I‘m starting to feel human again.
