Though I loved The Wanderer, More Weight edged it out as my favorite read from October to December. The Hike then surpassed More Weight to advance—only to be defeated in the final matchup of the year by Slewfoot. I doubt I'm going to get my book finished by Thursday, so I'm calling it. It was VERY CLOSE between this and Conclave, but as Turton has gone on my tentative plans for next year and Harris hasn't, I'm going with that. If it could be tied, it definitely would be!

Choosing my top read of January was a little tough this month. I had three 5 ⭐️ reads that are each incredible in their own way. In the end, I choose Weyward. Not because it was better, more powerful or stronger writing then the other two, but because I felt a little more connection to it. #BookBracket #BookOfTheYear. FYI… I don‘t know who created the bracket, but thank you 😊
It was hard choosing between this one and The Starless Sea, so I slept one night over it and decided that Hesse's Steppenwolf already spoke to me when I was younger. It spoke to me again. And it will later again, I'm sure. It's a book that will accompany me through my whole life. Therefore it is going to be my Book of the Year 2023.
