Romance round up - 3 m/m hockey romances

Textbook Defence - latest in the Hockey Ever After series. Not a patch on the first one as originally published, but still fun. It‘s always good to get a glimpse of Gabe & Dante.
On the Edge - I like the slow burn in this series. This one is a pretty good example of the grumpy/sunshine trope.
One Timer - I can‘t remember this much but it must have been ok because I finished it after bailing on a few.

bookandbedandtea I love a hockey romance 💘 Might give On The Edge a try! 21h
CarolynM @bookandbedandtea Me too😊 Do you have a favourite? I don‘t think you need to have read the first 2 books in this series to enjoy On the Edge, but earlier couples make frequent appearances, so it all makes more sense if you read in order. 7h

I read this in its original iteration and like that more? I also realized — and this is not exclusive to this book — that I hate when writers give their characters dialogue calling their love interest/partner “something” (“There‘s something more important to me than [job/event/other significant happening].”) rather than “someONE”. It‘s fun, trope-y, and a quick read.

From the very beginning Trista is very clear that she does not want to be a mom. With the way things are going the only "happy ending" that I can see happening is them getting together & raising the baby together. And that makes me feel icky. I don't like the idea of her suddenly changing her perspective on motherhood just cause she gets to witness a loving family. I guess I should have realized what I was getting into with a surrogacy romance but

willaful I just read some of the other reviews and am staying far away from this one... 4d

This book was really similar to the first one in the series, with likable MCs and no smutty scenes, which I prefer. There were times that Ellie annoyed me, and I really wish we could have gotten Jake's POV, but overall this was a pleasant read. I'm mostly posting this because I don't like covers with real/real-looking people on them, so I created a new cover for this book and put it on myself. Slightly crooked, but I like it so much better than ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) the original. I've seen a lot of videos of people recovering their paperbacks and turning them into hardbacks and I'm quite intrigued by them. However (A) I don't have time to learn a whole new skill set right now, (B) I don't want to invest in all the tools and materials I need to get a start, and (C) actually, I really like paperbacks and don't want all my books to be hardcover. So I thought I would try to design my own cover that I ⬇ 5d
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) then printed onto a half-sheet mailing label and stuck on the book. Then I covered the whole thing in clear contact paper like they frequently do with library books. Worked brilliantly, and I now have the first three books done up in floral covers instead of people 😂 Of course, then I read somewhere that the author is quite pleased because she has real-life military couples on each cover of this series but... it's just not for me!! 5d

I had high hopes for this book after reading the author‘s introduction, though it didn‘t quite deliver. I‘m not really into kink, and while the book promised it, it was really just some light BDSM. I‘m also over the kind of story where we get a smart female lead who still has to be rescued by a big, strong man. That trope feels tired and overdone. Book #47 in 2025
