Hexenwolves, werewolves, lycanthropes, and loup-garou are what you have to look out for in this Dresden tale… I really enjoyed this story about werewolves and such… although I wouldn‘t want to be in Dresden‘s position in this book great read

This is one long battle sequence, hence the name. I found it very boring to read and ended up skimming most of the book.

Originally, Peace Talks and Battle Ground were one book. I would have preferred that. Cut a few bits out and make the narrative tighter and it would have worked. On its own, Battle Ground is a slog.

⬇️

PuddleJumper Because of the grand scale of things, many character details and plots got lost. Thomas was hardly mentioned for example.

The Murphy thing was very stupid and unnecessary. Harry didn't need more reason to fight. It was cheap.

It's still a well written book but I've not been enjoying this series as much. The last few books were very hard to read and don't have the re-readability of the early books.

peanutnine Bummer. At least you can check it off your TBR! 4w
Ruthiella Late series bloat… it‘s a danger , regardless of the series or genre, I think. 4w

Look at that! It's become discoloured! 🤣

I'm going to start reading this for #CozyChristmas as I don't want this on my #Roll100 list for the third year. I know I've been avoiding it and with the recent disappointment of He Who Drowned the World, I will keep avoiding it

@peanutnine

peanutnine Oh no! Sequels are tricky, I hope this one doesn't disappoint! 4w

Staring down 40c in Adelaide today. Doing everything we can to stay cool. If we do hit 40 it will be the earliest in the season we have since 2006

LeeRHarry It‘s heading our way in Melbourne tomorrow- I‘m already over the heat this summer and we have a looong way to go. 😐 Hope you manage to stay cool! 🤞 1mo
Darklunarose @LeeRHarry it‘s so long to go till May and so much heat ahead of us. I am not a summer person at ALL! The only good thought is we are one week till solstice when the days will then get shorter and we know we are heading back to nicer weather. Still May is a long way off. Stay cool tomorrow. Between the heat and the rain and the thunder you guys have had you could use a nice break. (edited) 1mo
Suet624 Wow. That‘s hot! 😳 1mo

Listen, are there things that I‘d change? Sure. Overall, this was fun. Harry wasn‘t some Superman-style all-powerful boy-scout of a character. He‘s kind of a dick, but I think that‘s what kept me turning pages. I wanted to know what happened to everyone. It was worth it, just to meet Bob, to be honest. Anyway, I liked the universe and will read more. August‘s #BookSpin

TheAromaofBooks I've had this book on my TBR forever! I really loved Butcher's Codex Alera series, although I've heard they're quite different from the Dresden Files. 2mo
AshleyHoss820 @TheAromaofBooks One of the things people dislike about Butcher‘s writing is that he can‘t seem to write women well, which I can see. Also, Dresden is a bit of a jerkwad. 😂 So I went in to it lightly, knowing it was lightly problematic, but also pretty typical of male authors. I liked the universe he was building, though. The magic was interesting, so I would be willing to read more of this. I‘ll have to check out the one you mentioned too! 2mo
