Rosemary's Baby | Ira Levin

My #BookSpin has been on my TBR for years, and my #DoubleSpin is for #LosersClub. I'm looking forward to finally reading Rosemary's Baby, but I don't know how I feel about The Running Man.

After having my worst reading slump this past month, I realized that I am quite stressed out by all of the Litsy book clubs I have joined because I just can't keep up. I'm going to have to let go of a few so that I can relax more and enjoy reading again--plus I want to concentrate on getting some books off the shelves. Such a lucky problem to have.

Fear of missing out
led me to join too many groups.
I need to regroup.

lil1inblue I'm relieved I'm not the only one! 🤣 #somanybookssolittletime 3d
Ruthiella It‘s a balancing act! 3d

JenlovesJT47 Same here! I overcommitted myself this year and have gotten so far behind because I‘m stressing myself out 😵‍💫♥️ 3d
kspenmoll Sometimes I join but then drop out a certain month cause I can‘t keep up. Plus you are still healing, need to focus on that, & when you read, enjoy it, not feel stressed! Please take care of you. The books are always there.🩷 3d
Seabreeze_Reader It's okay to make a change of plans, especially with 2026 around the corner. Plus, I think quite a few readers here can relate, myself included. 🧡 📚🤗 3d
Read4life I know the feeling. I‘m doing the same and have decided it‘s ok to take a month off from a group if the book or the schedule doesn‘t work for me. I think most of us understand. 💙💙💙 3d
Susanita I can relate! 2d
AnnCrystal Good choice. With such a chaotic world, we can't make reading feel like a chore. We need books to remain in our toolbag of zen...👏🏼🐝👌🏼😘🐝💝. 2d
rubyslippersreads I do the same thing. All the books and groups are so tempting! 2d
dabbe @JenlovesJT47 Well, let's give ourselves permission to bow out of a few of them. The only pressure that's there is what we're placing on us. I'll probably still want to be tagged, but I'm not stressing about it anymore. Join me? 🧡💜💛

dabbe @JenlovesJT47 FABUL💜US! I'll do the same! 💜💜💜 We can check back at the end of the month and see how we feel. 2d
JenlovesJT47 Yay! I‘m doing the SK #losersclub this month since it‘s one I haven‘t read yet and I sat down and read 20% of it today. Baby steps! Never thought I‘d be in a slump like this but phones are so distracting and it‘s hard to concentrate. 2d
LiteraryinPA It‘s so validating to hear that other people are experiencing similar things. 💗💗💗 2d
dabbe @JenlovesJT47 So true! Bombardments from everywhere! It makes on want to cocoon inside their house and only get delivery for everything! 🧡💜💛 2d

AnishaInkspill I was like this and completely understand 2d
marleed Oh yep, I had to let go of book commitments a couple years back and it did make my reading joyful. I even changed my booking to reading categories and gave up on the bingo aspect - but now I feel like I shop my own damn dusty shelves twice a month! 2d

julieclair This is me!!!! I‘m impressed that you and @JenlovesJT47 are reducing to 3 groups this month. I can‘t even imagine which ones I‘d choose. But I know I need to drop at least some of the ones I‘m in. 😬 To borrow your phrase, I‘m #OverFOMO‘d . 14h

In my reread of this book, I appreciated King's worldbuilding, but I'm not sure the book stands up well on its own. I had liked book 2 much better and am looking forward to reading it and the rest of the series with #LosersClub.

BarkingMadRead It‘s definitely my least fave of the series 3d

Happy to have an excuse to re-read this favorite series with the #LosersClub

I forgot what a brilliant job King does with world building in this one. He just kind of drops you in the middle of it all and somehow it works.

Welcome to the #LosersClub open discussion for #gunslinger
Please be mindful of spoilers. We have new readers to King who haven‘t read all of his books. When referencing his other work, please keep this in mind for our new-to-King friends. Don‘t forget to tag each other in the comments so your friends can see your reply. Have fun!

BarkingMadRead @BookwormAHN I deleted your comment by mistake! And I totally agree. This one was setting up for the whole series, but it‘s definitely geared towards younger guys 6d
Julies_Bookshelf_Adventures This series is my favorite of Stephen Kings, especially with all the references to his other works found throughout. This book does a pretty good job with introducing the new world and concepts, though I like the air of mystery and that the reader doesn‘t get a huge amount of information about the history of the world and characters (edited) 6d

BarkingMadRead @Julies_Bookshelf_Adventures Yessss I love all of the Easter eggs throughout the series! 6d
Bookwormjillk I‘m almost done. Somehow I had forgotten that most of the characters aren‘t there yet. It really is amazing how much he set up in this book though. He just kind of drops you in the middle of it and somehow it all works. 6d
Karkar I think this one is much better when you are rereading it versus the first time. So much more falls into place and it is not as boring to me as the first time around. 5d
kwmg40 I'd read the first two books several years ago and I remember liking the second one much better. I decided to reread this one (and will the second one when we get to it) before continuing the series. The book sets up the world well but plot-wise, it doesn't stand so well on its own. 5d

‘This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death.‘

Finished in May for #LosersClub

A deadly plague. A struggle between good and evil. An awesome story with unforgettable characters. I never get tired of reading this.

BarkingMadRead This is my absolute favorite book of all time! 6d
JessClark78 @BarkingMadRead It‘s so good! This was my third or fourth time reading it. I like the original TV adaption too. 6d
BarkingMadRead Yes!! The original is a little campy but so good. I‘m not a fan of the newer one 6d

DieAReader Excellent🎉 6d
JessClark78 @BarkingMadRead I haven‘t seen the newer one. I have a friend who loves The Stand. She was complaining about the new version to me, so I never watched it. 6d
BarkingMadRead Your friend is a hero 🤣 it‘s so so bad 6d
Reggie I‘m starting this tomorrow. I‘m pretty sure I‘ve read it before. And during covid I kept the 90s miniseries playing in the background while I was gaming. 4d

Here's my October list for #BookSpin and #CastTheDie (the first 13 books). Since it's going to be a while before I can get shelves and unpack my books, they're all ebooks or audiobooks, with the exception of The Running Man. If that one's picked then I'll check it out from the library for #LosersClub

“They watched until the car was out of sight, headed down the eastern slope. When it was gone, the three of them looked at each other for a silent, almost frightened moment. They were alone.”

A family isolated, trapped in a haunted hotel that doesn‘t want them to leave.

I‘m not sure how many times I‘ve read this. This book is always good, always a favorite.
